I have a lawn boy lawn mower. I needed a small part for the choke. Its a little pin that drops into the choke(external) to hold it in place. A .08 cent part at best. To get this pin Anna(the parts girl) wanted me buy a new carborator plus labour, about $150. When I only needed a little pin. Needless to say I didn't go that way. I thought I would go around to the back of the shop and talk to one of the three mechanics on duty to see if I could get a workaround that would work and save the $150.When I got to the back Shannan was there and wouldn't allow me to talk to any of the Mechanics on duty. I have bought several Lawn mowers and lots of parts from them in the past. But now I see that they are only a Parts replacement Dealer(I think that is where the big money is for them) and they don't repair. I would recommend that you stay away from Crown and find a place that will help you save your money. It is now 2 days after the first part of my review and I have gone to another parts place and bought a Carter Pin. That fixed the problem. Total Cost: 0.08 cents plus 15 minutes of my labour!

Approximate cost of services:
$150.00

Company Response

I would like to address some concerns with this review

When you arrived in looking for a small pin, we took the time to look up the engine breakdown and Kohler did not sell that pin alone but only the entire carb. You were never told anything would be $150 or that you had to have a repair the carb was $80. There may have been some confusion as many questions were asked and before they could be properly answered another question was asked over that previous answer. If given the time to speak or come up with solutions for the part not being an option from the manufacture, we may have been able to figure something out. Instead you said you would find a pin at the Home Depot as you had no carb sample so we could see where it fit and what size it would have to be. If you would have given us more time to speak before saying you were leaving but really sneaking back to the shop, we may have been able to help you. I feel your thoughts on our establishment are a little unfair.

When you left you went to the back entering the shop where Myself the service manager was standing with a technician. When you walked up and I asked if I could help you said, “looks like you caught me with my pants down” and “you’re not supposed to be in the shop you work in the front”. I nicely told you we cannot have customers in the shop for safety reasons and that they were extremely busy working on customers equipment as we were short a technician. It is my job to be everywhere I deal with all shop issues and repair parts orders, as well as keeping an eye on the shop and repair time frames. You were offered additional assistance if you wanted to come back to the showroom but instead left telling me to “shove it up your A**”. Uncalled for in my opinion over customers not being allowed in the shop as it is policy. Our regular customers would never speak to anyone here that way and I am happy you have found somewhere else to purchase parts.

One last thing, we are not a replacement dealer, all day long we sell hundreds of parts to happy and appreciative customers. We go above and beyond to find from the most obscure parts to the simplest of parts. Selling parts is a huge part of the business and you are wrong to think its not where the money is. The money is wherever we can help people parts or repairs.
