The owner of Rejuvenations Contracting - JD Clarke presented himself one way and demonstrated another on the project in my home. He didn’t walk the talk. I went with him, not because he was the lowest bid, but because I felt that if he was good to his word – the project would be handled and completed in a professional, timely manner and that I would be respected as a client. As a General Contractor, he would be there on site to co-ordinate the trades – be responsible for them and their work and provide customer service. Scope of the project (1) engineered wood floor (2) painting ceiling, walls, trim (3) countertop & backsplash. Time commitments were not kept, communication on his part was little to nil. The Contractor demonstrated lack of time management, communication, organization and Client Care. Keys were given to trades & left under the plant pot. The Contractor appeared to spend very little time on site. When he realized that I was not happy with the work or how the project was run – instead of discussing and reviewing the job - he shut down and created lengthy delays. I was left not knowing when work would be done or if it would be done. The Painter was brought back prior to scheduled walk through - I was not present. Contractor signed off the painter and refused to bring them back. There was never at any point in the project a walk through done to review work done by the trades. The Contractor contradicted himself on numerous occasions. Every conversation there was mention of his money concerns, stress, health issues, family issues, assorted personal issues. A small job dragged out to a year, it took nine months and constant follow up to get the flooring trade to come back. I was left with a poor DIY job and damage to my home (especially painting) with considerable cost to myself to have corrected and redone. The Contractor accepted no responsibility for himself or the quality of work done (especially painting). I had to find a contractor myself to finish the backsplash. As a client, I was made to feel that my home was not worth doing a good job in and disrespected throughout the project. It was brought to my attention that the General Contractor did not have proper approvals in place to collect deposits or progressive payments in the Province of Alberta.
