Four years ago, Van Dongen's helped us pick out five beautiful large hemlocks and two clump maples to form a screen in our back garden. From our initial contact with the staff in determining which trees would work for us, to choosing the individual trees, to arranging for the delivery and planting, everything went smoothly, and we found everyone we worked with to be polite, helpful and professional. The installation was done on time and as promised, down to the final clean up. In the following two years, Michael was very responsive with any questions we had concerning maintenance of the trees. Unfortunately, the summer they went in was extremely hot and dry, followed by two of the worst winters in a long time. By the third summer it was obvious that two of the hemlocks were failing and one was quite stressed. Michael arranged to have Steven come out to inspect the trees and he agreed that they would have to be replaced, recommending we waited until this spring to give them the best conditions. Early this year we went out to choose the new trees with Steven's help and he also made all the arrangements for the delivery and installation. On that day, the crew foreman, Carl, called a couple of times to keep us informed of their expected arrival time. He and his crew worked hard to extract the dead trees and install the new ones while causing minimal damage to the new plantings that had gone in around the garden since the original trees were planted - thanks for the great work guys! Michael followed up immediately to check on how everything went, to offer suggestions for maintenance and to tell us to get in touch at anytime with concerns/questions. The replacement trees were fully covered under their warranty and we found Michael to be extremely fair and generous in his handling of additional costs. It's been a pleasure working with Van Dongen's. We will continue to use them for nursery projects and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to friends and family.
