We hired Tyrone McFadden to be the general contractor for the renovation of our home. We decided to renovate the entire first floor consisting of living room, dining room, kitchen and garden room. After consultation with us, Tyrone obtained accurate drawings from which we could work. He then made specific recommendations for flooring, windows, doors, kitchen counters, cabinet, and plumbing and electrical changes. It should be noted that we have an older home with irregular floors and ceilings. He was very helpful in negotiating the necessary building permits with the city building department. He did all this work himself relieving us of the responsibility. He was extremely helpful in making decisions about selection of the design and the materials. For example, he helped us decide on the type of wood flooring and moulding that would fit our home and budget. For the living room, he knew exactly what type of fireplace and mantel to recommend, and his staff installed them beautifully. The kitchen required the most major renovations including the placement of a new steel beam in the ceiling that allowed us to create a walkway and island between the kitchen and the dining room. Previously, these two rooms were only connected by a doorway. This was extremely innovative and required Tyrone to bring in an engineer. All the kitchen cupboards, countertops, sink and backsplash were ordered by Tyrone, and the installers were very good. He supervised the installation of all the appliances. In our garden room he replaced the floors, windows, and the door wall and chose excellent materials. He organized their delivery and installation. All the subcontractors employed by Tyrone were of very high calibre and their workmanship was excellent. We found that his predictions for budgeting and timetable for the work were very accurate. He provided us with very helpful updates by e-mail including a running list of expenditures during the renovation process. In summary, Tyrone was superbly cooperative and informed. We especially appreciated his collaborative approach to making decisions. We would highly recommend Tyrone as a contractor. We found him to be very reliable, responsible, and truthful.
