We had experienced small rivers in our basement due to leakage for a couple of years. During summer of 2009 the problem could no longer be ignored as it had escalated to a mould issue. It was December by the time we secured the funds to do the job. Upon calling RCC Rick came out to do an assessment and give us a quote. He was very courteous and gave us a folder of information about the company and the general work involved in waterproofing. He drew a clear diagram of what we could expect at our home right on our quote. Another company who had provided a quote not only gave us a much higher price but he was very surly and abrupt with us. The team arrived in January despite the freezing temperatures and snowfall. They got the job done quickly. They did leave a bit of a mess in the front yard but they are due to come back in the spring to level the dirt and top up with gravel. They honestly recommended that we waterproof the front and back of the house as well within 5 years. The damage to the foundation on the side of the house is likely happening/will happen in other areas. We will certainly call them back to completely waterproof our semi-detached home when our budget allows.

I left a message for Rob Rosati on a Sunday thinking he would call me back on Monday. He called that evening and came over to assess the job at my home after working all day. He was polite and gathered the info he needed to give a quote for demolition and restoration of drywall before and after installing an HVAC system. He called me the next day with a fair quote and sent his guys out the day after. Kevin and Kendel arrived at the agreed upon time and performed the demolition job quickly and took away all of the material removed. Naturally drywall is messy but they did their best to clean up, leaving a manageable amount of dust for us to take care of.

We live in a typical brick, semi-detached home, approx. 1000 sq.ft incl. basement. Though the previous owners had pride of ownership and put quality work into the home, they had replaced the hot water rad system (enjoyed by the majority of our neighbours) with an inefficient electric baseboard system. We bought the house anyway since it was the best of the lot in our price range 7 years ago. Northwood were courteous, professional and caring from quote to invoice. We were concerned about losing what little space we have to ducts and return vents etc. Gary greatly improved the mechanical plan we had hired another company to draw and Santo and team made it happen! The team worked in tight conditions as we did not put anything into storage, they were polite and communicated clearly, they cleaned up each day and always left with a smile. Northwood has brought an end to 7 winters of wearing toques and down vests inside the house! I highly recommend this company without hesitation.

Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
We had sought quotes from 3 companies for this major job. Space is at a premium for any homeowner. Don't settle for a company who are vague about the results. Make sure you understand exactly where your ceiling and walls will be compromised by ducts. Northwood saved us valuable space!
