10/10

Stylux Design & Construction ("Stylux") did a kitchen/dining room renovation for us in the summer/fall of 2014. We initially were looking to only replace the carpeting on the main floor with hardwood. We found an ad in the paper and called for a consultation with respect to the stain color for the new flooring. When we met with Aida (the Designer for Stylux), she confirmed that the color of stain we chose would work throughout the main floor. And then, as all designers do, she looked at our space (kitchen/dining room/living room) and asked if we ever considered removing a ½ wall between our kitchen and dining room and creating an open concept. Years earlier, my husband and I had considered removing this particular wall but never really thought of it again until this moment. It only made sense if we were going to extend the hardwood throughout the main floor that we consider the removal of the wall at this time. We met with both Aida and Ray on another date to discuss the removal of the wall; Aida and Ray also suggested some simple updates to freshen up the kitchen. While looking at sample backsplash and countertops, my husband and I decided to go ahead with a complete renovation. We had a budget that we wanted to maintain, so we did a “face-lift” on the cupboards to keep the costs down, but other wise we kept the same footprint but with new backsplash, hood fan, countertop, custom built island, under mount lighting and new paint throughout the main floor. I’m not a designer and didn’t know where to even start, so I left everything to Aida and Ray. They came up with ideas for countertops, backsplash, etc. and we simply chose what we liked. Aida was very good at determining our style and listening to what we wanted. Ray and his trades’ people did a good job and again, listened to what we wanted. At one point we wanted to widen the entry into our living room, but Ray was honest enough to tell us that for the small amount we wanted to open up the cost wouldn’t be worth it (again he kept our budget in mind). As with any renovations nothing ever goes as smoothly as planned but any concerns we had Ray addressed immediately and to our satisfaction. We absolutely love our new kitchen! Stylux Design & Construction did a great job and we look forward to working with them again in the future.
