Project was completed at the end of 2018. Could not be more pleased and impressed with the work Shent's Renovations completed for my wife and I. Stuart, John, and Louis we're absolutely amazing. (Not sure on the spelling of Louis'/Lewis' name - sorry!) The initial quote and planning was quick and painless, Stuart talked to us about what we wanted, and what options we're available to us, and is an excellent communicator. Messages were returned promptly, and I was given frequent updates as the project progressed. We ended up going with composite decking and lighting within the railings, which did increase the cost, but looks fantastic and will last longer than we will. When the initial demolition of the existing porch was done, it was apparent the brick pillars needed to be replaced before we could finish the porch. On short notice, Stuart was able to put me in touch with a mason (also excellent - a review has also been posted for them), and complete the porch once the pillars had been replaced. I feel it should also be noted that Stuart was even kind enough to make adjustments to his schedule to build us a temporary porch so that we could participate in Trick or Treating (at no cost to us), while the masons finished their work. The work was completed on time and as agreed, and the job site was cleaned every day. The entire team is easy to work and communicate with, making the process stress free. Our porch is now the envy of all our neighbours, and we would 100% recommend Shent's Renovations (and already have to our friends). We will be reaching out to them for our back deck, and kitchen projects in the future. Thanks again gentlemen, and thanks for putting our porch on your website! John and Jenn

I was put in contact with Red Robin Masonry through another contractor that was rebuilding my porch. The pillars were in such bad shape that he couldn't continue until they had been replaced. Red Robin Masonry came through big time for us (job was completed not too long ago) - they were able to fit us into their schedule on short notice to get the job done so we could continue with our other renos. They were able to re-use almost all of the existing brick to rebuild and repair the pillars and they look FANTASTIC (our home was built in the 1920s, and the brick look is a large part of our home's character) . You can barely tell that the entire pillar was rebuilt. I've even had neighbours ask when we are going to have it done, only to happily tell them they are looking at it already, and see the surprise on their faces, and hear the compliments. The whole project only took 2.5 days to complete, which I was impressed with, given the poor weather we were having. Would 100% recommend, and will 100% be using them for the brick repair and other work I would like to get done on the rest of my home! I should also mention that masonry work can get very dirty and my home was left clean at the end of EACH day! Thanks again! John and Jenn

Thank you John and Jenn for the review.

One of the hardest parts of our job is working out our schedules and problem-solving to fit in emergency jobs like this. That being said it is all worthwhile knowing we were able to help out both you and your contractor.

Thank you for trusting us to rebuild the pillars properly, as they were originally constructed.

Good luck with the remainder of your work and please don't hesitate to contact us in the future

Jason and his crew were starting a project for my neighbour, which included a garage. My wife and I decided it would be a good time to also build our garage and arranged for The Woodworking Shop Inc to build it for us at the same time. Work started in April 2018 and was completed in October 2018, after many delays. Some work would be done, then we wouldn't hear from anyone for weeks, with no reason given. I learned afterwards that Jason had picked up several new jobs, and that was why they stopped working on ours. The jobsite was left a mess every day that they worked, including nails, screws, garbage, and cigarette butts all over the yard. I had to have a flat tire repaired because of this, and only offered a "sorry" for my troubles. Jason's workers also used building supplies I had purchased without my permission (and I was never re-imbursed). The garage floor itself is not level and even after Jason had one of his workers come to fix the floor, it still pools water and does not drain properly. Shortly after Jason advised me the project was finished, I came home to water leaking in to the garage from the walls, and Jason advised me he hadn't even inspected the final product himself before he asked me for the final payment. While the finished product looks nice, closer inspection shows a lot of short cuts were taken. I attempted to finish the walls with plywood, only to discover that the wall studs are all at different measurements. The conduit for the electrical that runs from my house runs through the middle of my yard despite repeated conversations with Jason regarding running it along the edge of my property (exactly as my neighbour's conduit was done) - the conduit itself was taped together with 1 layer of electrical tape. The siding on the garage doesn't even go all the way to the ground with an exposed sections in our laneway where you can see the house wrap where there should be siding. Jason's team also rebuilt the fence on my property line as they had demolished it prior and the fence itself is not straight, poorly constructed (there are screws sticking through the fence boards where they missed the 2x4s) and the gate they built already needs to be replaced as it can only be opened from one side, and has shifted already (no diagonal supports).

Cannot recommend Better Contracting Services - my review is in relation to work was done prior by them, and after a few years, i've had several repairs done to it, and i'm told that a lot of the shingles have not been properly attached to my roof. i'm writing this review now as i'm about to engage in the third repair of this roof the last 5 years (I did not contact Better Contracting to repair them based on my first experience) I should also mention the job took 5 months to complete, 1 month of which I had no siding on my house - I discovered this was because of the Mike Holmes show and that if they get a call to shoot an episode, my project is put on hold. I also had a very hard time getting the owner to call me back, I was told this was because of his bad internet connection? Maybe they've changed over the years, but buyer beware. Edit : upon seeing the contractors response, I will point out that the job took months as indicated above, which does not explain the lack of contact, not the lack of quality of t he job itself, which the contractor said was a week, despite the lack of contact being multiple weeks/months. Would recommend getting references from contractor and interviewing them PRIOR to giving a deposit. Very unprofessional.

First off, I need to apologize to Tony and his crew for not posting this review sooner (as I had promised). My wife and I currently own a 100 year old home that has only had 2 prior owners to us and minimal to no updates since the house was constructed. In May 2014 our toilet had begun to leak to the point where it was causing damage to the sub floor of the bathroom, only being protected by a single roll of vinyl flooring. We decided it was time to update the entire bathroom. Tony’s quote was very comparable to the other quotes we had received (and one of the lower quotes for identical work), but was the ONLY quote that itemized the work and supplies required, and he made it very clear that at any time, if we needed to adjust the quote, or if we had picked up supplies on our own, he would simply subtract them from the quote. Having recently lost a good chunk of income, this was a valuable option to have and a small part of the reason why we chose Tony. When I first met Tony, he was very organized, easy to deal with and very understanding of the vision my wife and I had for the bathroom. He was also on time, which is surprisingly rare I’ve found. We only have 1 bathroom and Tony understood the need to keep the project on time and even made the extra effort to complete the replacement of the toilet, so we could go back to a somewhat normal life while the rest of the project was completed. In regards to the quality of the work, we have no complaints. Each day, Daniel would lay out mats to protect the floors and stairs and cleaned up each evening before leaving. The work was completed according to the time table Tony had set out, and looks and operates fantastically. Alex has done an excellent job with the tile work as well, both on the floor and up the walls. It should also be noted that Between Tony and Alex, they we’re also able to include a small nook in the wall, fully tiled, by the bathtub for more storage, which was something we had not considered prior and now consider irreplaceable. We also had a cast iron claw foot tub that we wanted to keep, and Tony found a way to keep the tub, and keep the new style in line with the classic look of the tub (as well as expanding the doorway to the bathroom so the tub could actually be removed). Given the price of a cast iron tub these days, this was a key part of the renovation. There were a couple of challenges during the reno that were discovered, but Tony contacted me immediately with solutions and let me decide on the action I wanted to take. I would also like to speak to Tony’s work ethic (and his team). They had the utmost respect for myself, my home, and my family. My neighbor had inquired about getting a quote from Tony one day while they were working and Tony politely told him that he would prefer to discuss it when he wasn’t actively working on our project. I was very impressed when my neighbor told me this and very happy to know that once we started, Tony and his team made us their priority. Our bathroom is now the nicest room in the house! I would 100% recommend Bath Solutions, specifically Tony and his team, and once we are ready to add a laundry room and water closet to the basement, I do not see any need to obtain multiple quotes, based on my experiences. Summary : Punctual, and easy to get a hold of. Detailed, itemized quote (labour and materials). Quality work, follows directions from customers. Clean work area during and at end of day. Patient with customers, and able to answer questions directly. Wife approved. Thanks again gentlemen!
