We hired John to do some painting in our home. He is a nice person to deal with and is neat, bringing along drop cloths and cleaning up after himself as best he could. He works by himself for the most part, which may be a problem as his work became a bit messier as the day progressed [from sheer fatigue I'm guessing]. The cost of his services were not outrageous considering how much work there was to be done. The job he did was average; he didn't really do anything that we couldn't have done ourselves had we had the time to invest, and frankly, I think we could have done a better job. There are messy bits throughout the walls [i.e. bleeding onto the trim, wall imperfections that should have been sanded down and smoothed out, certain parts were missed altogether]. For someone in business for 20+ years, I expected more. We had a few rooms where we used mainly dark paint, which is quite unforgiving when you bleed onto white trim and don't even-out wall imperfections. I'm most unhappy with those particular rooms as the errors are glaring. As mentioned, I didn't see how this was a 'professional' job. I also never received a formal receipt even though it was specifically requested.

We really enjoy our crown mouldings and wainscotting. It adds a lot to a room and to the home. These folks were professional, but for the cost, I expected their work to be seamless. Frank, one of the owners, is a great guy - very friendly and I felt he was trustworthy. The mouldings are great - a few gaps between a few of the joined pieces, but generally done well, however, I wasn't totally pleased with the wainscotting. Firstly, we weren't really told exactly how the boxes would be positioned down our front hall [which is very long] and dining room. I was expecting large boxes, but we ended up with small ones that look a bit too busy. I didn't even think to ask but they should have been more specific when doing the quote. Some of the ends weren't cleaned up enough either -we did some of our own sanding to get it to be smooth enough to paint over. These are minor things, true, but like I said, while they weren't the most expensive quote we received, they weren't the cheapest either and I expected a close to perfect job for the money we fronted. This is not a criticism of the company, just a fact: if you are thinking of doing this in your home, be prepared for one big mess to clean up afterwards. If you have the option of completing this in a home before you move in you'll save yourself a lot of headache.
