Rob and his crew installed one shower glass wall only and one irregular shaped shower wall and door which was complicated because of the dip in the slanted wall. Rob took particular care in the irregular shower and made sure to come up with a design that would disguise the dip and also make the wall very secure. Good communication, nice people at all points of contact and prices that seem very competitive. Overall seamless and positive experience.

Daniel and his team (Edgar, Josh and the gang) did a fantastic job for us on our very old, very rickety house in Leslieville. From beginning to end they were thorough, and proactive, and the scheduling and work ran like a well oiled machine. Daniel was always responsive to emails, and Edgar handled any questions or requests I had for him on-site quickly and with the friendliest of dispositions. Edgar went above and beyond what I have come to expect from contractors, he transplanted plants that were in the way of concrete delivery, he re-dug window wells that had been removed along the way, he re-poured a small piece of concrete in our front sidewalk as a favour... the list goes on, and always with a smile. Josh, too, stored some materials for us in his personal shop, and was on the lookout for savings for us in how the job was approached. When we found that our walls were only single brick on the sides, and with a gap behind that, the engineer suggested rebuilding the wall, so the price of course went up, but thanks to Josh's thoughtfulness, he proposed pouring a support wall in the gap and anchoring it to the existing, and the engineer agreed that it was a better approach, and the price went back down! As far as the actual work goes, everything was done to a high standard, the job site was kept clean at all times, and the guys rarely even came into the house, entering by the basement window instead so as not to disturb us. We had to dig down quite deep to get full 8ft finished ceilings, plus pour behind one wall, replace termite damaged support posts and sill plate, so there was lots to do, and our house is stronger for it. Safety was a big concern for us, and each step was done carefully, and no corners were ever cut. Though they may not be the cheapest underpinners in the city I am confident that you get the quality and seamlessness that you pay for and it was well worth it for the piece of mind and quality results. Can't recommend True North enough! Thank you, thank you!

Hi Anne,

Thank you for the thorough review. We are glad that we were able to help secure your foundation walls and still give you the deep basement you wanted. I'll pass the review on to your crew.

I came across Al after endless calls to find someone who would install all the duct work for a new HVAC system in our Victorian gut job. He was recommended by a high ranking Homestars Heating and Cooling company that only did service and furnace or A/C replacements. This is was my first major renovation so I needed a lot of hand holding - Al informed me that since more than half of the system was being replaced (all the walls we took out had the existing system) we needed to get an additional permit and have a system designed by a professional HVAC designer. Al suggested a great designer and worked with her to make a design we all could live with. Throughout the project Al was always responsive to my calls and requests, and is a truly honest and genuine guy. Even after the job was done he answered my calls and walked me through some trouble shooting when we had trouble getting the system to start. The things that could have been a bit better were that some of the holes cut were a bit generous, and we ended up with a few extra cut outs that we have had to patch up, and there was some leftover debris at the end of the job (something that seems to be the norm with every other contractor we have had throughout our project), but in the end what matters is that we passed our city inspection, the house is warm (on all four levels) now that Fall is here, and Al was straightforward with us throughout the process. Al knows old Toronto homes, and will find a way to get things done in the end, much more than I can say for a lot of other contractors I have worked with since. I would hire Al again, so give him a call and I'm sure he will be able to help you.

Thank you Anne, yours was quite the jobsite and i'm so glad your happy with my workmanship. Re-installing existing equipment into older homes can be very tricky at the best of times but i certainly do enjoy a challenge :).
The best part is knowing your newly renovated home is up to your standards....

Re debris left.... My apologies, i truly thought i removed it all, i always try to leave a jobsite cleaner than when i arrive... A.L.
