We had Buttons install a new furnace, tankless water heater, air conditioner and natural gas fireplace. They came in with a reasonable estimate for high quality HVAC, were very helpful in facilitating an eco energy audit and getting the maximum rebates for the new products.

We hired Jerry's insulation to inject foam into the walls of our 1925 brick home. The crew did the job in one day and did a decent job. I found that they really downplayed the size of the holes left and that the repair job with plaster was really basic and didn't adequately fix the wall. We still had to go ahead and do a few more layers of plaster repair. Overall not bad, just be prepared to do a little more touch up after they are gone.

Company Response

Thank you for your feedback Stella. The application you are describing is known as a drill & fill. The holes drilled must be 1" in diameter, in order to properly inject the walls with foam. Also, we try to clearly indicate to all our customers that we cork and patch all holes, but additional patching will have to be done by the homeowner, simply because of the time required for patch to adequately dry before re-applicaton. Thanks again for your feedback, we always appreciate hearing from our customers.

Our 1925 home was a mixture of knob and tube, 1950's romex, a basement renovated by a non licensed electrician, with a relatively new kitchen and bathroom that were not done up to code. I hired HowieCo electric to replace all the knob and tube wiring of our 1925 house, as well as fix up the errors made by the "do it yourself handymen" who had done previous work. Ken Howard impressed from the day he came over to do the estimate, when he called me at 7:37 to let me know that he was going to be late for his 8:00 appointment with me. His estimate was reasonable, actually lower than some of the others, but it was his professionalism that impressed me most. His entire team was polite, respectful that they were in someone else's home (one even asked me for permission to leave a sandwich in my fridge), efficient and hard workers. Even though they encountered a few surprises as they did the work (like when they went to install the bathroom fan and found out the fan didn't vent to anything, and had to get a roof guy over to fix the problem), they dealt with each problem, and it didn't really delay the job overall. I have no hesitation recommending HowieCo for any electrical job. They were a pleasure to work with and I only wish all tradespeople were as professional, honest and hard working as they are.

We hired Red Robin to do some parging and tuck pointing of our 1925 brick home. Mike gave a us a very competitive quote and was very professional. The work started on time, took as long as we were told (a rarity in the renovation business), with no hidden costs. Mike made sure we were satisfied with the work done before I was asked for payment and when we found a small area that went needed touch up, he fixed it up right way, no questions asked. Part of the job involved replacing a concrete window sill and he gave us a no cost upgrade of limestone instead of concrete. I would highly recommend Red Robin for any masonry needs.
