All I needed was one litre of paint. And it had to match a colour that had been on the exterior of the house for ten years, after being wind-beaten and faded by the sun. Most stores would have just laughed at me. But not Tosha. She worked on matching that one litre of paint to the chip of paint I'd brought in as a reference - until she got it just right. She added extra tints in tiny increments, slowly and methodically, and it took a few tries (she's a total perfectionist) but the end result was absolutely astonishing. A PERFECT match. Oh - I forgot to mention that I wasn't "exactly" sure of the original colour, so it was a real shot in the dark. This store has been around for a long time, and Tosha and her wonderful grandfather are known as the go-to paint experts in the Beaches neighborhood. They're always welcoming, always ready to make you feel like you've come to the right place. And they'll go out of their way for everyone - even someone like me, who's come in to buy exactly one litre of paint. Highly, enthusiastically recommended!

You really get a feel for a business after you've phoned around for a few quotes. Some companies make you feel as if they're doing you a favor just by answering the phone, some company pricing makes you wonder how on earth they stay in business, and some companies exude an air of incompetence and confusion that make you shudder. This is definitely NOT the case with Astron Electric. This is a family company that's been around a LONG time - and you immediately get the sense that they know what they're doing and they're going to do it right. Permits, applications, inspections, you name it - they'll take care of everything you need to get the job done professionally and safely, without ever resorting to price gouging. AND they show up exactly when they say they will. I unreservedly recommend Astron Electric, with a special shout out to Alex, the electrician who did the work as professionally and mindfully as the family who went before him.

What a transformation! This sad old chair, which was re-covered in matelasse (not an easy fabric to work with!) now has a new lease on life. The Vienna touch is evident in every detail (note the double row of piping at the edge of the arm) and the workmanship is exemplary. The wooden arms and legs were professionally spray painted off-site (all taken care of by Vienna's proprietor, Ross) at a very reasonable cost. To top it all off, the chair was delivered free of charge - what a lovely bonus! Ross is highly personable and accommodating, and he really knows his stuff. He and his team are to be commended for their old-world artistry and careful attention to detail. HIGHLY recommended!

You don't realize how important really good plumbers are - until your pipes burst. This happened to us today. After shutting the water off at the main, we called Tom Day Plumbing. When the situation was explained, Tom had someone here within 45 minutes. The problem (which was nowhere near as serious as we thought) was assessed quickly and efficiently; the plumber who did the work was polite and extremely knowledgeable - all in all, a terrific representative of the way the company does business. I don't usually write reviews but, after the excellent customer service we received today - both on the phone and at our home - I felt that I had to let everyone know that there ARE reliable and trustworthy people in the plumbing and heating industry, and Tom Day is most certainly at the top of the list. Without reservation, highly recommended!!

The gentleman who serviced our furnace was incredibly courteous and knowledgeable. He arrived on time and didn't get upset about the lack of parking on our street. He took an inordinate amount of pride in his work - carefully explaining what he'd done and how the system was functioning. No one has ever bothered to do that before. I was delighted to find out that our seven-year old furnace is in perfect knick. This serviceman, single-handedly, has restored my faith in Direct Energy.
