2/10

My problem was with the organization and information provided by the company. Posted to help the next person. I had a small retaining wall to pour in my backyard, so I called astro as they seem to specialize in smaller loads. First it took several calls to get a hold of someone to organize and book the load. When I booked I asked what kind of trucks they had, to see if they could back into the pouring site; the response was "they will just try and get it as close as they could" ?? I even said I would take measurements and send pics, they said this wouldn't help. Unfortunately, their website doesn't provide any info on their trucks. On a positive note there was good suggestion on type of mix I should use which helped provide some confidence in the service. When they showed up to pour, the truck they sent was fairly large and the driver said he couldn't get in and need to start chopping high branches and even then he still might not be able to. Luckily he was able to get in but while watching clearances it distracted from the weight of the truck and he cracked an existing concrete pad in my backyard. We eventually got the concrete poured and was not upset with the driver as it wasn't his fault as the root cause was the failure in the office side. The driver even told me before he left that they do have a smaller truck and it could have easily been done in two loads which would have solved the clearances and the weights. (Was pretty frustrated when I heard this after the fact). I followed up with the company and explained the situation and tried to explain to them that "everyone" doesn't know exactly what you provide and you need a better system in setting up deliveries to avoid on site complications, especially when they are based off providing a more niche service. Unfortunately I gave up trying to ram my head against the wall, trying to help them improve. the kicker came when I said "just because I needed four yards of concrete doesn't mean you should automatically send a truck that holds 4 yards, as I might require two trucks that hold two each to deal with the construction site. even if it is a more expensive delivery charge", response "no that doesn't make sense, we would want to get it there in one truck", outcome... Broken cement pad. Overall, my experience was a negative one as the office staff seems unaware, understaffed or under trained and my guess is I'm not the only one who had this type of experience. On a positive note, the guy who showed up in the truck was pleasant once we got around the crappy situation we were in.

Approximate cost of services:
$1,300.00
