When we moved into our house in 2014, we knew that there was work that we wanted to do. The previous owners had already undergone a major renovation in 2009, gutting the ground floor and upstairs, but the basement was left unfinished and was a blank slate for us to deal with. We asked the previous owners who they had used to do the work and they immediately came back and gave us John's contact details, along with a glowing recommendation. As we were living in John's work, we could see the quality (it's fantastic) and so we forged ahead with preparing for our renovation. When we contacted John, he immediately made himself available and met us to discuss what work we'd like to have done. This ended up being a rather large project, including a full basement underpin, a full width basement extension at the rear, adding a separate basement entrance and constructing a full width two storey extension at the rear of the house. In terms of interior work, we planned to build a new master bedroom at the rear of the house in the extension with its own ensuite, and a sunroom/breakfast room on the ground floor with a powder room. Throughout the planning and construction process, John always made himself available to answer our questions, and was careful to explain to us everything that was going on to ensure that we knew what to expect. When he gave dates for things to happen by, they were correct. Acquiring the minor variance for the planned work was a breeze! When we were about to start construction, John's timeline was the best we had received from anyone (3 months). In fact, another contractor laughed at us and told us there was no way that it could happen in that amount of time, and that we'd be lucky to be done in 6! During construction John and his men were true professionals. As we were still living in the house, they were very careful to ensure minimal disruption whilst they worked, despite the project being so invasive. They arrived punctually every day and left the work site tidy at the end of each day. Additionally, John was on-site every day either working or supervising, and with his attention to detail, no issues went unnoticed. He is meticulous. With such a huge project on such an old house, it's impossible to have no unexpected issues. However, John moved mountains to ensure that the impact financially would be either minimal or non existent. Additionally, he ensured that we still stayed on schedule; when issues arose which impacted the work schedule, such as unexpected sewage work that needed to be done by the city, John was able to organise the work around it without causing any delays. All in all, we have no hesitation in recommending John for any work that might need doing. He has extensive knowledge, great professionalism, and is one of the friendliest people we have met. He is fair, honest and gets things done. We are glad we chose him, and we are already planning future projects to bring him in for.

Absolutely fantastic service from Efficient Moving. I got into a situation where I had to move a sectional from one house to another with less than 24 hours' notice. I phoned Efficient Moving on a Sunday evening and they were able to book me in for 6pm the following day. After a slight delay because of a miscommunication with the street name for the pickup address, they arrived punctually at the actual location and were very fast and professional with moving the items. "Efficient Moving" is definitely an accurate name for them! They were friendly and were careful not to damage anything in the process. They have a fairly large truck that would easily hold the contents of an apartment, although we had nowhere near that amount of stuff. The charges were described up-front on the telephone when I booked, and the final charge came to exactly what I expected it to be. I would definitely recommend them if you need something moved.

The previous owners of my house had "repaired" some cracks in the brickwork by patching over the top of the crack with mortar that absolutely didn't match the colour of the existing stuff. As such, it wasn't a great repair job and looked terrible at the same time. I phoned Jason on the recommendation of an acquaintance and asked him to grind out the old mortar, including the badly patched stuff, and tuckpoint it all properly. He was able to schedule the job pretty quickly and turned up on time. He was very friendly throughout, got the job done in only a few hours, and left the place tidy when he had finished. The house now looks significantly better as he colour matched the new mortar to the existing mortar, and ensured that the new mortar was uniformly applied throughout. I would not hesitate to recommend Jason the Mason to anyone who needs tuckpointing done.

I mostly do my own work but decided to get some help in with wiring up my living room speakers through the wall (front left/right, centre, rear left/right). I called David and he was very professional and explained exactly what his process was. When I explained the work to him, he immediately mentioned some things that I hadn't anticipated when I was planning out the work that needed to be catered for, and the experience he brought to the table really helped speed things along. When David arrived he was meticulous down to the last detail and we worked together to get all the cables routed. The job ended up taking a little more time than we'd both anticipated when starting, but we hit a few obstacles on the way. I was impressed with the way David methodically analysed the situation whenever we hit a roadblock and devised a solution to overcome it. In the end, what would have been a very messy job had I done it on my own ended up being a well planned and executed job with minimal mess with David's involvement. I would not hesitate to call him again should I ever need more work doing.
