We met with a lot of contractors when we were looking to renovate the interior of our 100 year old home. From the beginning we found Elliot of Terracon Inc. to be friendly, professional and straightforward. He was very honest with his feedback, followed through on his commitments, and always made himself available to answer our questions about the renovation. When we decided to change the scope of the project from an interior renovation to adding a 2-storey addition, we did not hesitate to hire Terracon to take on the project. Elliot was very thorough in explaining what the project would involve, giving us a breakdown of the work, costs and schedule. Throughout the renovation he took pride in making sure everything was done to code or better; walking us through the work being done at every stage so we could take comfort in knowing our home was not only beautiful but safe as well. Anytime a problem would arise Elliot was very quick to offer sensible solutions, keeping us on schedule and on budget. We appreciated his patience and input when we were having trouble making decisions or had any questions or concerns. He was diligent in staying in contact with us regardless of the time of day; always answering phone calls or returning our calls within minutes, and even made himself available on weekends. It was evident from the beginning that Terracon Inc. is a family owned business. Elliot and his family gave care and attention to every detail of the project and we felt they managed the project as if it was their own home. Over the course of the renovation we also had a chance to meet all of the trades that worked on our home and found them to be very professional, knowledgeable and respectful. We were extremely happy with how smooth the project went and are thrilled with how our home looks. We originally met with Rocco in March to have him prepare some engineering drawings for a structural wall removal for our interior renovations. Rocco came by to take the measurements and then asked us why we didn't consider expanding the square footage of our house by adding a rear addition. He suggested we contact a real estate agent to assess the value of adding an addition, and then assisted us by contacting some contractors to get some rough estimates on cost and time for this option. He also offered to draw up a preliminary plan for the addition to help us decide which renovation project we wanted to pursue. Two days later, Rocco delivered a rough floor plan as well as confirmed that there would be no problem with the zoning bylaw to build the addition given the the lot and current house size. After some minor changes, we agreed we wanted the addition and settled on a final design which Rocco submitted to the city. The city made a couple of requests for changes and Rocco and his team were very quick to turn around new drawings each time the city requested them. Overall, the permits took a month to come through. I'm happy to say that we are now starting the second month of our renovations and are very happy that we decided to build the addition; especially after our contractor opened up some walls and discovered a number of major issues that would have caused us delays and extra costs had we stuck with our original plan to just renovate the existing space.
