Javier handled the renovation of our kitchen and a bathroom in our Hamilton home. He did an excellent job. He presented us with a range of options and this helped us to get the work done at a reasonable price. All of the work was done on time (actually a bit earlier) and well within budget. His work was based on a design provided by a designer that he recommended. In parallel to Javier's work, we had other work done by another contractor (roof, siding, eavestroughs, fascia, and soffits) and both teams worked well together. Javier was able to accommodate easily those items that overlapped - for example, he prepared the frame for a window that the other contractor installed, a window that was part of the kitchen design that allowed for more counter space. The other contractor spoke highly of Javier's work. Javier communicated well. We moved out for a month but he kept us informed. Basically, it was a turnkey operation as far as we were concerned. We left and came back to a beautiful new kitchen and bathroom. We highly recommend Elite Home Renovations and we would work with Javier again.

Alex Sel helped us to select a beautiful door and his team of installers came and installed it. The door is an amazing piece of hardware that includes a very strong frame and door. The locking mechanism also operates five rollers that pull the door closer to the frame and thus seal out any air leaks. It is very easy to operate and it is all done through the handle. The hallway where this door was installed is now much warmer and the draft has disappeared because of how the door seals and the expert installation of the frame. There are no leaks. The installers were fast, efficient, and very helpful. The quality of their work is very high (it certainly matches the door). They left the site clean and they were very helpful by showing us how the door works. We are extremely happy with the door and the excellent service that Alex and his team provided. He has a bewildering array of products but he also has the expertise and smarts to help us zero in on what would work best for us. It was a pleasure to deal with him and we highly recommend him.

Lani and his crew did an excellent job rebuilding a front closet and hallway. We had found mold in the closet and it was critical that the problem was resolved as soon as possible. In less than two days, they were able to remove the drywall, insulate the closet and hallway, and then install new wallboard. Their drywall work was meticulously done and they left the site spotless. All garbage was cleaned up and we are very happy with the result. They did what they said they would do. We compared the work Lani did with earlier work done by another, more expensive contractor and we were amazed by how precise and clean Trava's work was in comparison. I highly recommend Trava and we would use them again.

In August of 2013, Rafal gave us a quote on two fibreglass doors and asked for a deposit. Since that time, we have not received the doors. Initially, we were told that it would take about 12 weeks to get the doors made and installed. We then received a series of excuses as to why he was not able to supply the doors. Recently, as of July 2014, his phone number no longer works and we have been unable to contact him. We have contacted another customer of his and they tell us that they too have not received what he had promised to deliver. We are now exploring options to get our money back. August 20, 2014 Update: Rafal has returned our deposit to us thanks to the intervention of the City of Toronto By Law Enforcement team. In particular, we want to thank Mr.Douglas Stubbings of the City of Toronto.

Lisa Fortino was very focussed on helping my wife and I get a kitchen that would work for us. She is an expert and she was very good at sorting out what would work best in our house. The team at Royal came up with a very good design that we signed off on and then the rest of the team got to work building the cabinets. The installation was fast and all of the cabinets fit very well and everything works. The quality of the materials, the construction, and the hardware is high. It is a much easier kitchen to cook in. Several months later, with the change of the seasons from very dry to very humid, there was one minor issue with a door that would not quite close. It was very minor. We contacted Lisa and she set her people to work fixing the problem. This too was handled very quickly and I feel that they went far above what was expected. I highly recommend Lisa and her team (including Sergio who came on a weekend to fix the minor issue) and I thank them for their help. I would happily have this company do work for us again and I highly recommend them.

Their service was appallingly bad. They broke a tube because of rough handling and they were unable to get a replacement part. The tech said the previous two cleanings had been done improperly. They never were able to fix the part they broke and they just refused to help us - extremely rude and dismissive service manager. We ended up going to another company altogether. All of this took place in the week before Christmas and in extreme cold.

Dear Alex, we are sorry you had this experience, however we have no record of your cleaning job anywhere in our system. I personally looked into this by searching our system with your first name and by the job you describe. I would like to invite you to contact me at your earliest convenience. It is important for us to understand what really happened and how we can make amends. Sincerely, Ejay - Service Manager - cell number 647-896-2522

Custom Window Designs came to us as a subcontractor to Duguay's Works. We decided to use them to replace all of our windows, install some siding, and install a new screen door. Their price quote was competitive and the work was done quickly and neatly. There was no damage to walls, the windows look good, and we have noticed quite an improvement - no drafts, quieter inside, and generally, the house is warmer. If I had any windows left to replace, I would use this company without hesitation. I highly recommend them.

Overall, the work was well done albeit with a few problems. As with any job, careful management and setting of expectations is critical. While we would not choose to work with this company again, this is not to say that they would do a bad job for others.

Jim Urquhart and his crew (Brendan and Bill) did an excellent job from start to finish. Jim's easy-to-understand estimate included a very clear explanation of what he would do so that it was easy to see what we would be getting. Throughout the busy summer, Jim kept us informed as to when he would have his crew on site. We wanted to replace the vertically-placed bricks on the window sills and Jim recommended a shale that was well suited for this purpose and affordable. Jim's Gentle Giants (aka Brendan and Bill), who seemed to know everything there was to know about bricks, stone, and the stuff that binds them, were very cheerful, friendly, and pleasant - they were also fast, clean, and kept the trampling to a bare minimum. Overall, they fixed numerous step cracks, shifting blocks, missing mortar, and other problems with a clear mastery of their craft - these people really know their stuff and they like what they do. They were a delight to deal with and I would highly recommend them for any masonry or structural work that your house may need. They got all the work done so quickly that they were able to do some additional repairs to my beloved concrete block garage.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Nothing really - friendly, happy people who charge reasonable rates and do good work.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Get Jim to come by in the off season to provide an estimate. He has more time in the winter.
