We initially dealt with Roman and his wife at BCH a couple years ago and they did a great job. We called them back early in the spring to have them do some more work on the side of the house. In April they gave us an estimate of 141 sq. feet for about $4500 and they would do the work in June. We recommended them to our neighbours who decided to have to start with a small job on their side of the house as well. We emailed Roman’s wife Clara about a referral discount and she responded in email saying we would get a 5% discount and we were satisfied with that. June and went and BCH didn’t come until end of July. Roman came out and marked out the area we discussed in April. What he FAILED to mention was that they area he marked out was bigger than we initially asked for and after the work was all Roman came into our house with a total of 195sq. feet and said that job cost almost $7000. My wife and I almost fell on the floor when he said $7000. We agreed on $4500 and after the job is completed the price jumped so much. We asked why and he said that he re-measured the finished work and it was bigger than the original estimate in square footage. He charges for what he does, was his explanation. On top of that he said that our neighbours job was too small so they will not honour the 5% discount. Roman is completely dishonest and we felt this was an entire bait and switch on his behalf. What is also disheartening is that after we showed him the email from Clara about us getting a 5% discount, he said no because the neighbours job is ‘too small’. I would caution anyone considering BCH that they may quote you one price but afterword’s give you a significantly higher final invoice and use the excuse that the job in sq. feet was bigger then he quoted us.

We are very sorry to hear how upset and dissatisfied you both are with our work this season due to the 5% discount that you demanded. We should have been more clear from the beginning. We do not offer discounts of any kind, but we initially felt obliged seeing as you were so happy with our work on your front entrance in 2014 and your neighbor initially showed interest in completing a large project on his property. Your neighbor ultimately decided to only complete a small fraction of his project, which amounted to only a few hours of work for us. It is always our intention to make our clients happy and as a result we will be mailing you a cheque for the amount of $350.00 to which you are referring. We hope the cheque finds you well.
As for your dissatisfaction in relation to the square footage of the work completed, we always outline the shape and size of our projects so that our clients can visualize how it will look and approve any changes. After receiving the 'go ahead' from both you and Melissa, we were under the impression that it was understood that enlarging an interlocking area will cost more. It should be stated that our estimates are itemized. The jump in price you are referring to also included the other work that was requested: a new lawn and a river rocks area. We stand by our calculations and our work. We are sorry if you felt Roman was dishonest as a result.
