I used the service in 2013. Given the problem with a water line backup, he showed up quickly and at the time he stated. He was a decent guy and offered advice and even talked himself out of work that he felt was not necessary.

Over the past year, I've rented various items from Rogers Rent-all. The equipment is okay, but their customer service, in my opinion sucks. You have guys at the front desk that automatically put the insurance add-on onto the bill without asking the customer's permission. Funnily, they have plenty of customer reps running around there, but the problem is the attitude of some of the employees. Sadly, there is not much choice in Calgary when it's come to tool rental. Home Depot has limited inventory and the equipment is usually out. I guess when they have a captive customer base they can behave such ways?

Against the urging of my insurance company, I used Stronghold instead of my insurance company's preferred roofer. The 2012 job was mediocre and Stronghold's rep signed assured me the roofing was fine. In 2014, I see shingles peeling (from poor installation), but have no recourse against Stronghold because they don't exist. Lesson learned.
James, owner of JPS Heating, got me out of a huge problem with a previous HVAC contractor. Unlike most of the HVAC companies that I called, James was willing to finish another contractors work and pull a City of Calgary permit. The work entailed configuring an newly bought for a secondary suite and ensuring the stringent City of Calgary HVAC building codes for secondary suites were met. When there was an issue with performance of the new furnace, James took responsibility for the problem and had it fixed. I also needed humidifiers installed on both of my furnaces - JPS Heating was able to match another very competitive quote. Quite happy with the service.

As a homeowner that's looking for both quality and decent price, I was very happy with my dealings with John. I purchased several items: shower panel, kitchen sink faucet, bathroom sink, bathroom faucet. John was able to source a faucet that he didn't carry from another supplier at a very competitive price. There was a significant delay in getting the shower panel, but John was very transparent about the delay and even gave me a significant discount because of the delay. What sets this company apart from other suppliers of the same material is John - he's very transparent and accommodating. These are qualities you don't often find.
Kitchen and bathroom granite counterop
I checked out many granite countertop providers and decided to use HGB Stone because of their pricing and transparency. They were the ONLY company that actually separated the cost of the granite from the labour/service charge. I was a bit nervous because they were the lowest quote. As an engineer, I asked a lot of questions and pressed them on many details and measurements - they were very accommodating. They worked with my finishing carpenter to ensure the granite was properly put on top of the undermounted Ikea apron sink which was not supposed to be used as an undermount sink. The result was fabulous and there was no added cost from HGB Stone. I would have no problem recommending HGB Stone given their pricing, quality of work, and patience.
