Said was very professional from the beginning. He promptly responded to inquiries and showed up on time on the date arranged. I thought I might need 3-4 pot lights installed, however Said was able to offer his experience and honestly suggested decreasing this to two (even though this would mean his charge would be less). I love the pot lights SO much and indeed 2 lights turned out perfect. He was even able to fix another loose light wire that I mentioned I had in the house! Said is great! Honest, knowledgeable and reliable. I would not hesitate to call him up for any electrical needs.

Cal was great from the moment I called to inquire about his services. I booked an estimate and I appreciate that he had the courtesy of phoning me to let me know he was running a few minutes late for the estimate. I needed to repair, sand and feather old hardwood in the kitchen with new hardwood in the living room while I was gutting and renovating the kitchen. Cal was very professional and took great care to assess and explain the process. I appreciate that he cautioned me about the potential imperfections that can arise from patching the holes caused by ripping out a wall and joining 2 pieces of hardwood (versus some company who might try to convince you that would handle everything and it would be perfect). I was very pleased with the end result; the gaps from the old hardwood planks were fixed and the repairs, patching, staining and transition to the new hardwood is almost seamless! Cal was always quick to respond to e-mails through the whole process and was great at accommodating my constantly moving timelines caused by other tradespeople in my kitchen renovation nightmare. I have never written a recommendation for a company but Cal deserves it. I also rarely think a company stands out enough to be worth recommending to others and I would not hesitate to recommend his services to my friends or employ him myself again. Thanks Cal!

Company Response

We appreciate your honesty and are very happy that things went so well. As the owner of a company I try to be up front about the process/outcome of patching into an existing floor so that homeowners have realistic expectations. We also work with/around other trades often so we are used to the commotion. We appreciate that you'd recommend us to others, thanks, Cal

I researched Granite Worx on BBB and they are not accredited but get an A+. My friend in a related industry had lots of experience with them and recommended them. I had gone with a different company before for quartz bathroom counters but went with Granite Worx due to the recommendation. Everything up to the installation was great. I visited the showroom, picked out the quartz, got a quote and signed the contract. I ordered a square edge profile on the contract. Turns out the quartz slab they used “was abnormal” and thicker than usual so the CNC machine that trims the square edge to be marginally rounded cut too much and beveled the bottom. The counters are in 3 places and depending on which piece, the bevel was different in each piece, one small piece was done correctly. Some bevels were 5mm wide. Apparently there's no quality check before pieces are sent onsite as this was not caught at the machining phase, nor caught onsite, nor noticed whatsoever and left up to the customer to find. Also, when they installed, the island had a seam and since the two pieces were a different width, the seam was uneven. A coin would bounce if was passed over it and they tried to hand sand the bottom edge to make the 2 sides even, however caused a larger rounded bevel in the one spot. The installers also left their garbage at my house and left razor blades on the floor for me to clean up after them. I also wasn’t aware that quartz undersides are not always polished, since my last bathroom countertops came finished. I feel they should point this out as customers shouldn’t need to be countertop experts. OK, mistakes happen but I expect companies to admit their mistakes and come fix it and do their job properly. After raising these issues with them, a service manager visited the site to inspect and it took days of stressful back and forth with the production manager, he initially offered $600 discount to keep the faulty counters in or they would take it out and "fix it" by cutting the bevel off, making the countertops smaller and the wrong size! Thankfully this situation finally got escalated to the President and VP and he offered $350 for the inconveniences and I also got new counters cut. Since they were redoing the counters anyways, I decided to add the extra cost to have the undersides polished as well. They indeed replaced the counters with a less noticeable seam and the right edge profile cut this time with no garbage left. However, the underside of the quartz was unpolished again! Also, during the replacement, the workers dented my undermount sink trying to pry off the existing counters. Sigh. The whole experience was a disaster with one thing after another going wrong, caused by people who don’t do their jobs properly. It was a constant back and forth for weeks trying to get the company to admit their mistakes and get the botched counter job rectified, which caused the remainder of my kitchen renovation to keep getting pushed back. I will never deal with this company again and I don’t want anyone else to have to go through this nightmare and all the enormous amount of stress it caused!
