In August 2014, we hired Phillips Moving and Storage to help us move from a 2 bedroom house to our new 3 bedroom home in Toronto. After meeting and receiving quotes from 3 different moving companies, we decided to go with Phillips because of their reasonable rates and excellent service. It was our initial meeting with Carmine, who came to make an assessment of the number of movers and time required to complete our move, that helped seal the deal for us. He was extremely professional, explained his assessment to us clearly and followed up promptly with a thorough quote the same day. He also gave us some tips on how we could make the move faster (e.g. labeling all the boxes clearly, bringing all the boxes downstairs, packing up our artwork in advance if we could, etc.) which we really appreciated. We received a courtesy call the day before the move to confirm timing for the following day. The moving crew we had (Hugo, Shawn and Calvin) arrived on time, and went right to work. They worked quickly and efficiently, and were both professional and friendly. They even laid out a platform directly from our front entrance to the truck side door, which allowed them to use a dolly and avoid walking up and down the front steps. They wrapped up all our furniture with care, and were able to maneuver the large items out of our tight doorway without having to take the hinges off the door! They also wrapped up our TV with blankets rather than making us pay for a TV box (saving us a bit of cash as well). Unlike other moving crews we have used before, they did not take any smoke breaks throughout the day. The move into the new house was very fast, and the crew completed the job faster than our original quote had stated (7 hours instead of 9 - that includes travel time), which saved us a few hundred dollars in the end. They even helped my husband re-assemble our bed frame, which made getting settled into the new house so much easier. We were really pleased with the service we received from start to finish. They left absolutely no marks on any of the walls or floors. Our furniture was moved in perfect condition. Highly recommend the crew we had!

We hired Joanne to do a Combination Consultation (including furniture placement, design and colour consultation) when we were in the process of packing up from our rental apartment and moving into our first home, all with a newborn baby in tow. Our most pressing need was to select the wall colour as we needed to paint before we moved in. When Joanne showed up at our apartment, she listened patiently to our needs and got to measuring and assessing our existing furniture right away. She was really pleasant to work with, and quick to understand the type of design and feel we were looking for. When we went to the new home together, she very quickly figured out the optimal furniture placement for us and made all sorts of fantastic suggestions for what we could do to enhance our existing mix of furniture and artwork - including new pieces to consider buying (with suggestions on where), the best way to balance out large focal points like a TV and fireplace, and the types of window treatments we could do. I really appreciated how well she helped me visualize the space as well as how decisive she was with her colour suggestions, which have all worked out great for us. She followed up the consultation with a very detailed email with everything we discussed, including links to different places we might want to source out different items (area rugs, drapes, etc.) She's also been great with any follow up questions I have, always willing to help out. Mostly though, Joanne really just re-energized us by helping to create a vision for what our house could look like over time. She was professional and a pleasure to work with. We really felt like she cared about helping us create a home we would love. We highly recommend her services, and hope to be able to work with her again.

We recently bought an old Toronto home, and the home inspection indicated that there was "some" knob and tube present (and the selling agent told us it was less than 5%). We decided to have it replaced before moving in, but after getting a few quotes from electricians it became evident that about 75% of the house was knob and tube! After accepting our fate, we chose Bill's team to do the job because of the way he conducted himself during the quote process and because of his fantastic Homestars reviews. He came in and walked through the house while making a floor plan, noting all the light fixtures and outlets. He then sat us down and explained that knob and tube is totally safe to keep in the house, but if we still wanted to have it replaced then his quote would include having everything updated to meet the current ESA code requirements. He was very thorough with his explanations of what work would need to be done and why, as well as transparent with costs. He was also just generally a very easy-going and trusting person, and we knew immediately that we would want to work with him. His quote came in with a very detailed breakdown of each piece of work and cost. The total cost was comparable to other quotes we received, but we were more comfortable because we knew exactly what we would be paying for with KNT. Bill’s team (Hugo, David, Tim, and all the others) were a pleasure to work with, always very attentive and helpful and efficient. They were tidy and worked quickly each day. Bill came by almost every day to check up on how things were progressing, and to answer any questions we had. We had many changes, additions and unexpected things come up during the 6 days they worked on our house (you never know what you’ll find behind the walls!), but Bill always offered us good explanations for what was happening and options for how to resolve. His team also did a great job patching up the many holes, including matching the pattern in the ceiling plaster as well as filling in parts of the baseboard where older outlets used to be installed. In addition to the knob and tube removal, we also had his team install bathroom exhaust fans, pot lights and Ethernet cables throughout the house. We have been so pleased with all of their work. Bill and his team have been a real pleasure to work with. We highly recommend!!

We bought an old Toronto home and wanted to have the lead and galvanized steel pipes replaced before we moved in. We called Vlad for a quote because of all of his Homestars reviews, and he was extremely friendly and professional. He wrote up the quote for us on the spot, which was really helpful. His team arrived on time (they were even a bit early but just waited for us patiently) and got the work done in just a few hours (before the rain came!). You can barely tell that our front lawn was touched. They were all friendly and extremely efficient. They even took a look at our sink upstairs because the water pressure was low and removed a few rocks that were stuck inside (at no extra cost!). His team did have to move our washer/dryer to access the pipes, and unfortunately the old hose to the washer ended up leaking a little after they moved it back, which resulted in some of the cement that they laid down getting washed away. Vlad came back the day after we called him and replaced the washer for the hose and took care of re-cementing as well. I have already asked Vlad to come back to do other plumbing work for us, and will continue to do so in the future! Fantastic service
