I first found Garage Door Geeks on HomeStars back in 2014 when the spring broke on the door. Nazar came out then and fixed the problem and also installed a new garage door opener as the old one was not working well. Great service back then. I called to have them come out again for general maintenance as the door was sounding like a mini earthquake under the living room floor every time it was opened and closed. Yurii fixed this problem by balancing the door, replacing the old noisy metal rollers and giving everything a good lubrication. This wooden door is approximately 30 years old and now runs so quiet, the quietest it's ever been. Another job well done. I wouldn't call anyone else but these guys. They're the best.

Rick responded to my HomeStars request in January immediately and came out the next day to assess the two projects which was a laundry room reno to be done first, followed by a new garden gate and surround. When the job started, Rick was always here when he said he would be and kept me in the loop if he was even slightly delayed arriving. Rick is very polite and considerate, always asking if I had any concerns. When the projects were finished, he left everything clean and tidy. The projects took a lot longer than any of us really expected; however, the laundry room was transformed from a very badly planned layout and eyesore to a well organized, efficient space. It's a pleasure to do laundry down there now. The old garden gate was wearing out and the surrounding posts were rotting. Rick replaced the 4x4" posts with sturdy 6x6", and installed a gate and surround. He also installed the gate insert and latch I picked up. Very pleased with these two jobs even considering the time it took for completion. It was worth the wait. Here are some before and after pictures of both projects.

I've been with HomeStars for quite a few years and never had a problem with any contractors before until now. Not only did this company never show up when promised over an 8 month period to install a garden gate, but wanted to up the price of the invoice because of their delay and rising prices. My understanding is when a price is quoted and an invoice is issued with a deposit paid, that should be the price for the job. I'm very patient with contractors that are weather dependent realizing they need more time, but this went beyond patience. Nothing was being done so I requested my deposit of $200 back several times. Finally, today the deposit was returned to me. I'm totally disappointed in this company which had stellar reviews and that's why I chose them in the first place.

I had 3 window screens that had rotted with age and were falling apart. I didn't know if I could find someone to just replace screens but then I found Doctor Screen through HomeStars. When I put through my request, Greg got back to me right away and within a couple of days John was here to fix the problem. He removed the old screens, replaced them right from his truck and in no time at all the lovely new screens were up and back on the windows. I'm very pleased and if any of my neighbours are looking to have their's replaced, I'll certainly recommend this company. Thank you John for a job well done.

Its not easy to get people to come out for small jobs but this is exactly what Joe and Daniel do. Ive had Small Jobs Specialist several times over the last couple of years. Here's what I had done today by Daniel - A cabinet pot drawer bottom that broke. He reinforced it and it's good as new - Take down an older cabinet from the laundry room and reinstall it in the garage - Installed a 7' board to the cement wall of the garage so that I can place hooks along it to keep things neat and tidy. Here are a few other things I've had done in the past Installed a kitchen stove vent to the outside that didn't exist before All new easy close hinges and knobs for the kitchen cupboards Demo a furnace room wall to make room for a water heater to be relocated

The basement bathroom needed the bathtub removed and turned into a shower to make it easier for my family members with their mobility issues. Payvand and his crew did an excellent job. We had other quotes which were all in around the same ballpark figure, but Payvand's professionalism is what sealed the deal. His crew members were so polite and accommodating and knew their jobs well. When they finished up for the day they left everything clean and tidy. Thank you Payvand for a job well done, and I plan on having you back next year for a laundry room reno. I have included before and after pictures.

Spano Paving did a neighbours driveway last year. I was very impressed with the quality of work so I got in touch with Frank to do my driveway. They came with a large crew of very professional people who I could see knew their job well. It looks great and I'm so very pleased with the quality of workmanship. Everything was left clean and tidy and they even taped the driveway off for me. Some companies don't bother doing this simple thing and leave it up to you to find tape and something to tie it to. Thanks Frank to you and your team. I highly recommend this company.

After being dormant for 20 years, the aluminum wiring in my 1975 house started arcing again. There have been decades of people playing with the electrical that most likely weren't certified electricians. I called in Birnie Electric and Terry did a full inspection. Every socket and fixture was wired incorrectly for aluminum wiring or needed replacing, including the outdated circuit breaker. I was provided with a full report and decided to do absolutely everything to correct the hazards. Terry & Derek spent 3 days here to correct everything, then came back to put the new breaker panel in. I highly recommend Birnie Electric. They are very professional in all aspects of their work. There are no longer any problems with the electrical in this house and I have received The Certificate of Acceptance from the Electrical Safety Authority. The price includes the initial inspection work as well as a complete overhaul of everything within the inspection report.

I've used the services of Drain Works for over 20 years. They are professional and I know the job will be done right. Chris came to install a sink and taps in the downstairs kitchen a couple of months ago, and just had him back again this week to install a dishwasher and new shutoffs. Since both the old and the new dishwasher were hardwired, I had Drain Works coordinated this job with the electricians that were here doing other work. Thanks for another job well done Chris.

This being an unusual year (2020 and covid holding things up), it took a little while from the initial measurements to a complete installation (8 weeks), but I am very pleased with the outcome. The neighbors are complimenting on how nice they look. Jack and Steve were great to deal with and I would highly recommend this company.

The 17 year old furnace, previously installed by Peel Heating, stopped working on a Friday night. I called for service on Saturday morning and a few hours later Tamer came over to inspect the problem. Unfortunately, the heat exchanger rusted out and the furnace had to be tagged as unusable. Dave Greene came over on Sunday to show me my options for a new furnace. Because it was February and there was no heat, Dave put the install in as a top priority. Marcel and Alan showed up bright and early the next morning. There was a bit of a glitch installing the new thermostat. Older homes tend to have surprises behind the walls. Sean arrived to sort the problem out and found a creative way to get the thermostat installed. Thank you Tamer, Dave, Marcel, Alan & Sean. You were all professional, exceedingly informative, polite, and my home was left in pristine condition. The new furnace is great. I'm very pleased.

Had a clogged drain in a downstairs kitchen sink. Had DrainWorks do excellent work for me on that same drain almost 20 years ago and wasn't even sure if they were still around. Checked in with HomeStars, and sure enough DrainWorks was there with great reviews. Just knew I had to call them. Armando and Luke arrived in a few hours after my call. They were very professional and polite, fixed the problem, and did a great job of cleaning up afterwards. I'd highly recommend DrainWorks. They were great 20 years ago and still are today. Had Drain Works back again on Feb. 12th for a potential clogged toilet and new toilet installation. Matt was here in 2 hours and did an excellent job

I've had Peel Heating Service Experts taking care of our furnace & a/c maintenance for the last few years and have the Platinum Plus yearly plan. Very satisfied with the service they provide. The technician arrived on Nov. 10th as planned and right on time. He was very courteous, and left everything clean. When the time comes to replace our 15 year old furnace, I'd definitely keep this company in mind after reading the many good reviews here.

The main spring broke on the garage door and couldn't open it. My car was inaccessible. I called Garage Door Geeks and Nazar was here within the hour. The door is now fixed. I found this company on Home Stars & would highly recommend them. Fast service, reasonable price & very professional.
