NO NOT HIRE Elements Roofing PERIOD!! I know they have one good review but I’m betting that the “good reviewer” Amber hasn’t actually had someone knowledgeable up on her roof to check out the job. Jason, was very nice and personable, they replaced the plywood on the back half of my roof and all the shingles. But they completely butchered the job. Originally everything seemed fine except that they didn’t install the number of roof vents that I paid for, not a big deal they came back and did that, of course we hadn’t paid yet. Everything seemed fine until I had to climb up on my roof a very months later to clean the eaves. Anyway, we had some shingles that were MISSING, you could see directly into the attic. They didn’t bother to put plywood down between the chimney and the edge of the roof, and we paid for all new plywood on that part of the house. Anyway since the shingles weren’t actually nailed down to plywood a few just blew tore and blew off. Also on the peaks of the roof where they have to install the shingle caps to join the edges/corners some of those shingles cracked and ripped off and again you could see right into the attic. The trouble was they just nailed some of the shingles at the edge into other shingles and NOT the plywood. And because the shingles weren’t nailed into anything solid they just bent in the wind and ripped. And I initially called Jason and Ryan to came and fix the roof. Ryan was like no trouble we will be over in a few hours no trouble at all, they never showed up. My wife called and they said oh we were running late we in the area be there soon but they never showed up. Needless to say I didn’t want they back up there on my roof anyway cause they clearing had no idea what they were doing. My brother is actually a contractor and he came over to help me fix issues, and the more he walked around up there the more issues we found, they just butchered the whole job. I could go on and on but in short DO NOT HIRE Elements Roofing. Jason and Ryan seem like very nice guys and maybe they are but they have no business being up there on anyone’s roof, they are flat out not roofers. I actually took some pictures and I was hoping to upload them to HomeStars, but it doesn’t seem to be an option.

Company Response

I have never met this man, nor been anywhere near his roof. I have left Thor a number of messages over the last month with no response.
Jason was removed from the company 2 years ago, this roof was completed by him in the spring of 2011.
Thor is absolutely correct about Jason's work. By the end of our time together it was just awful. I have spent tens of thousands repairing some of his handiwork since we parted ways. In my defence Jason was once my boss and at one time did decent work. I tell everyone who calls with a 'Jason problem' that I will personally take care of them, whether or not me or my company received any profits from the job, and most times I did not (payed for the material though!) Unfortunately for Thor however, even though the roof looked sloppy and some superficial plywood was not installed, there were no leaks, so he was not a top my list. My very very long list, and it's just me and one crew folks, 7 days a week 16 hours a day, doing the very best we can. I am currently booked out three to four months, and I am tired of going to estimates, which are almost all generated from referrals, having to explain at length this one stain on an otherwise perfect and extensive record of customer satisfaction. So please, Thor, get in touch with me in order to clear this up.

When it came to technical advice on the tankless hot water, Dan, from Ecotech’s, technical knowledge and advice was far and away the best of the 7 or 8 companies we had over to consult and quote on the job. I yanked my old fashion hot water tank and mid-efficiency furnace about 18 months ago. I waited a while to write a review just to be sure things were running smooth, I would hate to recommend someone if I wasn’t very confident in my recommendation. Anyway, after I did some initial research on tankless hot water and high efficiency furnace I had 7 or 8 different firms in to quote on my job. I had a tight space and everyone said it would be a bit tricky to make sure all the venting was up to code and I wanted to make sure the job was done right. Dan, from Ecotech, was by FAR and AWAY the most knowledgeable on tankless hot water systems. In addition, all the other furnace people that I had over wanted to install a new furnace that was too big for my house. Dan was the only furnace guy that assured me that the 100,000 BTU high-efficiency furnace that everyone else was more than happy to sell me was just too big for my house. If your furnace is too big it looses efficiency, not to mention a big furnace cost more to buy in the first place. Anyway I was pretty doubtful since Dan was the only one that was insisting on this, but after reviewing numerous websites, doing some calculations, and speaking to a few government organizations that had no profit motif in the advice that they were providing me I found that Dan was indeed correct. Last winter we had some good and cold days but you would have never know it at my house. Dan at Ecotech is the best of breed.
