I bought a budgie yesterday from Corbret's Pet Depot. When I went in to look at them it felt like I was being rushed. It felt like I wasn't suposed to be in there, an employee had to "let me in" by moving a stack of rabbit cages that blocked the door. Because I felt rushed (and there were puppies barking non stop in that little room) I didn't really get to spend time in there and check over each bird. I bought a very beautiful budgie. They put him in a box and sent him home with me. When I got home and opened the box to grab the bird and put it in my cage I was expecting to be bit and it to put up a fight (like every healthy Budgie does), but I got none, the box also looked all moldy and gross inside. In any case as soon as the bird got in the cage, he hopped up on the first pirch fluffed up and started to look all drowsy. He hasn't moved since this morning (I got him yesterday), he hasn't preened, hasn't eaten, and oddly enough he let me pet him O.O and went on my finger (I placed him of a different pirch near the spray millet hoping he'll eat, but of course he hasn't) so either they were not honest about his history and my new friend is an old bird that has been hand fed and trained (they said he was between 6 - 12 weeks) or he is sick. I hope to God he's just stressed. But this isn't the worst of it; I called petsmart after trying to get ahold of Corbret's numerous times seeking answers to my bird's behaviour. They gave me all the info they could and were very nice about it, they told me that Corbret's should give me a return policy when I get ahold of them, and that hopefully my bird is stressed but could very well be ill. The helpful employee told me to wait until tuseday before proceeding with any "freaking out" about my bird and to give Corbret's a call only if the bird still seems ill. Still concerned and curious as to the return policy (Petsmart is 14 days dead or alive) I called Corbret's. The man was very rude. I merely asked what they could do for me if they happened to give me a sick bird, I told him that I wasn't sure if it was stress or if he's sick. Without even asking what was wrong with it he told me that were was nothing wrong with their Budgies. I said polietly okay then maybee he's stressed, but if hypothetically he's still acting sick or if I wake up one morning with him dead at the bottom of the cage, do I bring him in with the recipte? He said in a very rude, harsh voice "Hypothetically HE WON'T" and hung up the phone. Very rude and veerrryy unhelpful, I'm glad we have Petsmart to fall back on though, it was very nice that they gave me advice even though I didn't buy my Budgie from them. Well I hope Jazz (that's his name) begins feeling better soon and my worst nightmare of waking up with him dead doesn't come true. But I warn you all now, to avoid the heartbreak of a sick or dead pet, avoid buying from Corbret's. I only did because they had more of a selection of colors (so I thought) because the Petsmart I went to had what I felt to be a very limited selection, but when I called the other Petsmart to get info on my bird (the one on walker doesn't have it's number in my phone book) the employee asked what color my bird was and the markings, he told me they have one very similar. Now I'm attached to my little Jazz and I certainly don't want to bring him back, but if he's not better I might have to go back to Corbret's and face the extremely rude and unhelpful persons again, they probably won't refund me, I don't want to put my poor Budgie back in that moldy box to bring back either, I HOPE he get's better. *Fingers crossed*
