One day one of our toddler's little friends came over and got the idea to tear a little bit of leather off of the Parson's chair she was sitting on. A year and a half later, most of the leather off of most of the chairs had been slowly ripped off by my child who was inspired by his friend. We had a birthday party coming up so we asked TJ to reupholster the chairs. We had a bit of a time constraint, 10 days or so. He had it done the day before we needed it. When I picked them up, I said: "Wow, these look good!" He laughed and said, "they're supposed to look good!" And they do - way better than they did when they were new!

Four years after moving into our house, I opened the kitchen cabinet under my sink and it came right off. The previous owners had glued it back on once or twice, so I tried the same move. No luck. Within a day or two the other door also came off, and so I started looking for someone to fix it. Found Kitchenfix through this site, and called Paul on a Sunday. By late Thursday morning the cabinet is fixed, and for real this time, not glued on but repaired with new joints that fit better than the jury-rigged multiple-time repair job that I inherited with the house. Paul was friendly, knowledgeable, and I'm very happy with the repairs. I know who I'll call for any future cabinet problems!

We had a pavement ant infestation return after two years. Pesticon got rid of it the first time and came back to do it again. They are persistent ants but Pesticon always wins in the end.

When the baby was born, there were many things that fell by the wayside. We did a fair amount of tidying, but were not really able to do a serious cleaning. We found New Century Maids thanks to this website, and we were so so happy we did. I realized that part of why it's so nice to stay in a hotel is because the rooms are cleaned by people who have skill. The awesome mother-daughter team who came to clean our house did all those neat hotel-like touches like wrapping a little toilet paper across the toilet seat. We had them do the basement, the oven, and everything. The mirrors were exceptional, we'd never seen ourselves quite like that.

Last year, we had a sewage backup problem in our basement, which is a pretty terrible problem to have. We called Draincom and they replaced our entire sewage pipe, which was a fairly extensive job. We were very happy with them. We also hired them to do a minor job with a leaky pipe, which they also handled. They are very trustworthy with the work, and their prices, while not a bargain, are fair.

Two years ago we bought a house we really liked, partly because it had an unusually large backyard. We spent the first year upgrading the inside of the house, and we didn't get as much use out of the backyard as we could have anyway. Then our kid arrived and the closer he gets to walking, the more urgent it became to replace the crumbling fence on one side, the rotting deck with the tons of mysterious dirt underneath it, the gondola that had also become a safety hazard with boards warping and nails jutting out, a messy crabapple tree greatly beloved by the neighbourhood raccoons... We looked for landscapers highly rated on this site, and Josh came up. He came last year to give us a quote, and told us that if we were demolishing the deck, we might like to have a stone patio and stone stairs, which sounded pretty good. Then we had some blips with funds and had to do some plumbing work, so we ended up waiting an extra year. Josh came back and his crew, including Mike, Mack, and another great guy whose name I don't remember, worked for two weeks on this project, dealing with various surprises with ease: once the dirt under the deck was removed it turned out the foundation needed parging; there were several surprisingly thick slabs of concrete set up around the yard that had to be destroyed, etc. The end result is not especially fancy, because that is what I wanted - a simple, usable backyard with tons of play space, and that's what I have now. The price was completely fair for the work. Surpassed my hopes.

We had persistent pavement ants in our kitchen, which we couldn't get rid of with terro traps. Mr. Patel came, was super friendly and organized, and they were not seen in our kitchen; until they came back. When we saw them, Mr. Patel came right back. Then they moved to the study - Mr. Patel came back and sprayed the outside and figured out the problem was in the basement. When they moved upstairs, Mr. Patel came back yet again, and it's been several months since they've been seen. If I have any other pest problems, I will call them again for sure.
