2/10

We were very disappointed in our experience with Dinos but were not going to write online about it but then received a request from the company to rate they so thought- why not! Our issues were as follows: -The movers arrived late (we had the elevators booked between specific times and this was an issue, we had already moved down 75% of our stuff by the time they showed up as a result and I was pregnant at the time which is why we hired them in the first place.) -When they did arrive they did not seem that interested in working quickly. We did more in two hours than they did over several. Perhaps this is because they are paid by the hour. Our move time was DOUBLE of that quoted. I asked them several times if there was anything I could do to help the process. They seemed to be constantly taking breaks and just sitting on the truck. -The movers were not respectful. They swore, smoked and spat. -during the move time from locations they went for lunch. They did not tell us they were doing this (it would have been fine of course- but when the truck just doesn't show up for over an hour with no explanation when we all left at the same time you start to wonder). -at the new location they asked if we wanted boxes moved upstairs in the house as they explained it would take too long. Again, I was pregnant and this is why we hired movers in the first place. We had all our boxes labelled. -Most distressing, they shattered the glass on the one piece of furniture I explained was a family heirloom. I understand mistakes can happen, but I had talked to them at length about how fragile it was and asked how we could best move it etc. They did not appear to be particularly careful and when it did break just commented that that's what happens with glass and old things etc. As I mentioned, mistakes can happen, but there was no remorse shown with regard to this damage. The cost was way above what was quoted due to all of this and many of our other items had damage as well. It was a terrible moving experience and I could not recommend Dino's to anyone. We had chosen them based on reviews and were sorely disappointed. I feel we are reasonable when it comes to moving but all of these things combined is more than I find acceptable. I will add based on the response below that we did express our dissapointment to the lead mover on the day of the move and were told it would be conveyed back. At the end of it we did not persue it further because we just wanted our experience with them to be over with and did not see a resolution based on the attitudes of the movers. This is why we were quite surprised to receive an invite to rate them months later from their company in our email. Clearly our dissapointment was not conveyed to the company as it was said it would be by the lead mover. I will also add as I reflect back on the experience that the movers commented to us how none of our stuff was too valuable. Fair enough, we don't own high end furniture but it was a comment and attitude we did not need to hear.

Approximate cost of services:
$1,200.00

Company Response

As we cannot verify your concerns because we can’t find your work order (please provide move date). We will attempt to evaluate the concerns as you stated:

1. Placing boxes upstairs: It’s obvious that the movers were trying to complete your move as fast as they could. I don’t quite understand what the movers did wrong, if you need distribution of your boxes then this will take longer than if you place them in the first floor.

2. Movers arrived late: Any one that lives in Toronto understands that ½ hour commute can turn into 1 ½ hour. For this reason Dino’s Movers will only provide the estimate time of arrival on morning jobs as state in our confirmation when booking move. For afternoon jobs we advise every customer at time of booking that we cannot offer an estimate time because truck in most cases is coming from another job.

3. Move time was DOUBLE of that quoted: Dino’s Movers is one of a few moving companies in Toronto that inquires inventory list and the needs of each customer before providing estimates. If we provided estimate to move 25pcs and when we arrive at location there’s 75pccs to move, this will take more time. I would ask that Nicole check the inventory that estimate was provided for and the final total of goods moved.

4. Went for lunch: Nicole can appreciate that we don’t charge for lunch and we do recommend that crew stops for lunch.

5. Breaks: As any job crew is allowed to take breaks, Nicole you make it sound that crew was always on break. This is not true of our crews, our drivers are required to complete a driver’s log of times which provides a good idea of our crew’s activities.

6. Swore, smoked and spat: I don’t think that any one should be surprise that movers as construction workers, landscaping, hockey players and most of us have done one or two of these things.

7. Damages: If you felt that you were entitled to claim any damage according to the conditions of our Bill of Landing and to the extent of liability you purchase, the process for this to complete a claims form.

8. The idea that our crew didn’t respect your goods is not possible, if we are moving a dresser that’s worth $1000.00 or $100.00 the process is the same we wrap the dresser with moving blanket and secured with tape. We never claim that putting moving blanket will be appropriate protection, it’s your responsibly to make sure that your goods are properly packed to be handled and transported. Dino’s Movers provides crating and special packaging for items that are fragile.
