My garage door openers finally expired last month after 45 years of excellent service. I had a recommendation for Markham Garage Doors and after getting a competitive quote, I booked Ernie for the job. He arrived on time and proceeded with the work. Due to the age of the old installation and the unusual configuration of the ceiling,, he encountered several challenges which he worked diligently to overcome. The final result was outstanding! Ernie went out of his way and spent extra time to achieve this result, which was extremely neat and tidy. All of the old equipment was removed and the garage left clean. I could not be happier with the total project and would recommend Markham and Rrnie to anyone.

I called Steve of Maple Leaf Doors regarding my broken cables lateTuesday. He arrived as promised next morning and installed new cables. What impressed me however was that without asking, he made adjustments to one of the doors which was out of alignment, then went over all of the moving parts, checking and lubricating them. It was obvious he was interested in making sure I would have no future problems. The price was very reasonable and I would have no hesitation in recommending Steve - he is a very personable young man.

My 25 old BBQ needed a new burner so I went to Sobie's to see if a replacement might be available. Curtis, the salesman, did his best to find one that could be adapted but to avail. He suggested I bring in the old burner and they would try to fabricate a replacement. At that point I decided to buy a new BBQ - with no pressure from Curtis. He asked me what my BBQ needs were then gave me a review of the options from an excellent in stock inventory. I selected a Broil King Signet which has since proven to be a great choice. Ernest and Bradley delivered it the next day - set it up for use and gave me thorough instructions on it's use, taking away the old one. No mess/no fuss, and the price was very competetive. I highly recommend Sobie's for your BBQ needs.

The Painters Group was sub-contracted to repair plaster damage to several rooms in my home. George arrived to assess the work and and to arrange appropriate tradesmen. The majority of the work, over several days, was carried out by Edgar, a very skilled professional plasterer/painter. He was careful to ensure barriers were erected to contain dust and other material and the finished work was excellent. The new surfaces blended in perfectly without a blemish. I would recommend The Painters Group and especially Edgar to anyone for interior home plastering and painting.

A roofing water leak in my house did major plaster/woodwork damage to several room in my home. ServiceMaster of Markham was recommended and approved by my insurance company. David did a thorough inspection and sent me a very detailed summary of work to be done, including detailed drawings and descriptions. It was the only comprehensive submission of several other contractors. Raj was appointed the job manager and work commenced. In all stages of the repairs, work was carried out in a very satisfactory manner and was completed on time. Workers were friendly and were careful to leave clean surroundings at the end of each day. A couple of modest adjustments were required as the work progressed and these were worked out with Raj to my complete satisfaction. One further plus was the excellent care taken to set up containment barriers so plaster dust and other repair elements did not invade other parts of the house. This is very important in a job of this type.

I purchased a new natural gas Barbeque which required connection to my home natural gas service. I called one or two companies without much satisfaction re timing. I then reached Brian at Canadian Gas Service. He was just finishing a job and though it was the end of the day, he agreed to come by and do the installation. He arrived and worked well into the evening to finish the job. It was done very carefully and professionally and the site was left clean and tidy - and the price was less than earlier quotes. As an engineer I was very impressed with the quality of the work, with careful testing at the end for to ensure no leaks. I would highly recommend Canadian Gas Service!

My large 70 inch flat television stopped working so I called Manny, the owner of Centennial TV Repair on the recommendation of a friend. Manny answered immediately and had me go through several steps to see if it could be fixed by phone. I was impressed by this kind of help, which would have saved a house call. This was unsuccessful so Manny agreed to come out on the weekend as he was working on a major downtown Toronto hotel project.. He arrived on time and went through several steps, finally determining that the TV had to reprogrammed, using information he called up from his computer. Success!! The TV has been working perfectly ever since. I was really impressed with Manny's technical knowledge, his whole approach to the problem and his very reasonable charge. I might also add that he is a very fine gentleman. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him of any of my family and friends.

The shingles on my mansard style side-roof were 45 years old and becoming unsightly, with warping and some deterioration. When I decided to replace my 30 year old flat roof last fall, I consulted Homestars and selected Roofworks for the shingle job, since my flat roofer, Robertson Hachfield , does not do shingles. I was very impressed with Adam Elliott of Roofworks on our first visit. He gave me a most professional assessment of my cedar shingle needs and a very competetive quote, using top grade cedar shingles. As the work progressed, I could see that my faith in Roofworks was well placed. The quality of the workmanship was outstanding, as Jason took careful pains to ensure perfect match-ups and also that the overlaps met specification. The finished job was perfect (see attached photos) and I have since had many positive comments from knowledgeable visitors to my house. Because of the interfaces, the job also had to be carefully coordinated with Robertson Hachfield, who were concurrently replacing my flat roof and this took extra time for both of them. This was done without complaint or extra charge. The two companies were impressed with each other's workmanship and exchanged business cards for future references. In conclusion, I would comment that Adam Elliott is a qualified professional roofer who knows what it takes to ensure a completed job that exceeds expectations.

George Hachfield (and previously his father Hans, who started the company) along with George's current partner, Joe Raso, have been looking after my flat roof for 45 years. Over that period their excellent service and quality workmanship have been absolutely outstanding. These guys are professional roofers and they can regularly be found working on the job, ensuring it is done properly. Thirty years ago they replaced my tar and gravel roof and last fall I decided it was time to replace it. This time they recommended the new "Modified Bitumen" roof technology which lasts longer and is a big improvement over the older method. The finished roof was excellent (see photos), it was finished on time, at a very competetive price and the area was left clean and tidy. The old roofing material was totally removed down to the wood roof deck, repairs were made where necessary and new top quality drains, vents and flashings were installed. Most importantly, the work had to be carefully coordinated with a shingle company, Roofworks Limited, who replaced the cedar shingles on my mansard style side-roof. In fact, the two companies were so impressed with each other's workmanship, they traded business cards for future references. (See also my review of Roofworks Limited.) In conclusion, I can pay no higher compliment to these two companies than to say you can put your total trust in them to look after your best interests.
