We recently completed a custom build with Crimson Cove Homes and have been very pleased with the finished product. From when we had an unconditional purchase agreement to when we took possession was approximately 50 weeks. Both my wife and I are very detail-oriented, so when some things were not completed according to expectations, they were quickly noted and brought to the attention of the Crimson Cove team who had the issues rectified very quickly. Part of the challenge with any new build is that the trades are all working for multiple stakeholders -- perhaps multiple builders, and almost certainly multiple jobs, each of them wanting to have the job done on-time. This did result in some re-work as they did things "the normal way" despite our plans specifying something different. With that in mind, there is only one Crimson Cove trade partner that I would completely avoid in the future (the structured cabling was sub-standard) -- of the dozens of folks involved, that is a pretty good sign. The sales team was very good at ensuring our concerns were heard by the necessary folks, and our site superintendent was also very good at wrangling the trades as needed. While the process was far from a "set-and-forget" one (at least to meet our detail-oriented standards), I would strongly recommend Crimson Cove Homes to anyone seeking a new home, particularly a custom-built one.

Our builder used Intelligent Spaces to provide the data cabling in our new house. The initial installer was not capable of following plans and incorrectly terminated the location of three end points as well as the "home run" location during rough-in. We caught this and it was resolved. Subsequently, the "home run" location was terminated using male ends, rather than the industry-standard female patch panel (having been in IT for over 25 years, I can tell the difference between a job-well-done and a shortcut job -- this is the latter). This can create issues in the future as the cabling installed is meant to be fixed and not flexed, and furthermore, the cables were very poorly labeled, being just Sharpie marker on the jacket -- the installer couldn't even bother to put tags on them. All-in-all, not the sort of work I'd expect from "professionals" -- I'd recommend seeking another vendor if you're requiring data cabling. Given this experience, I'm certainly not rushing out to get them to do any additional work.

Company Response

Hello, I'm sorry to hear you feel this way, please call my office @ 403-723-0700 and ask for Aaron. I'd love to hear your story. I'm not sure as to this "industry standard" you are referring to. We do what the builder pays for "spec". Most wont pay for what you are talking about with patch panels and such to make it more user friendly. However with that being said, shaw/telus also love to cut our ends of 90 percent of the time again making it harder to achieve a pretty or user friendly home run termination point. Please get back to me so I can approve this review as being real and qualified.
