Turnbull Masonry Ltd service went above and beyond expectation. Ron & Zubair was always available to answer phone calls & questions. The numerous new bricks & caulking blended well into the two and half story old Victorian facade. Bypassers & neighbours ( one being architect) admired the brick work, especially the re-build arch. Zubair & assistant Tekle worked diligently & long hours during very hot & humid July weather and still finished the work within the 4 day schedule. I highly recommend Turnbull Masonry Ltd , especially for assurance of high quality , reliable and trustworthy mason work.

The True Test of Time - Cabbagetown Flat Roof December 18, 2013. With the recent heavy snowfall so early this December (14th), more snowfalls sure to follow for the next 4 months. This will make some homeowners anxious if their roof will withstand the winter, then the spring thaw. To rate the expertise and workmanship of a roofing job, the ultimate test would be the function of the roof to protect against external elements with NO LEAKS . We have lived through several roof leaks. The resultant damages not only affected the interior of the house through several floors but also sapped our energy and sanity. In the early 1980’s , we hired a contractor to gut and renovate an old Victorian house. We knew when finished, the 3rd floor flat roof sloped the wrong way. Being ignorant , we thought it would be very simple to re-roof in the future as we were anxious to move into the house after one long year of tedious commuting to work during the renovation. Ten years later we did re-roof to correct the slope even though the roof did not leaked. We chose Avenue Road Roofing to re-roof in 1993.We almost did not hire Avenue Road Roofing as we did not know /understand the torch membrane system proposed. Thanks to Ed Standish, the owner of Avenue Road Roofing for his patience, understanding and explanation , thus gained our confidence. The roof was corrected to slope away from the wall using multi-layers of sloping material to a gradual single layer .Then a double layer of torched membrane went over top. To date, this roof had past the true test of time. It went through 20 years of winter ( some years of very heavy snowfalls ), 20 years of spring ( of constant freezing & thawing), 20 years of summer heat ( some of extreme temperatures) and 20 years of rain and even the odd hail storm. It even stood up to this year of extremely heavy and prolonged rainfalls. This roof is predicted to have another 3 to 5 more years of life. It even out-lived our deck & air conditioner. I highly recommend Avenue Road Roofing if you want a quality & “ worry free” roof.

2 Velux skylights on very slanted shingled roof in Nov. 2012. We had 1 old leaky skylight so we replaced 2 old skylights with 2 new Velux Fixed Curb Mount with light block shades. The staff was punctual, clean, and efficient. The skylights have gone through a winter, spring and summer .There was a lot of rain this June. The job is well done. I was to received photos pre- and post job of new skylights & area . If they were sent, I did not get them via email.Today, I got picture of 2 skylights which I believe are the old ones. The roof is too slanted so I am not able to see the outside view. My friends and family would like to see what the new ones look like. That is the reason I gave it a 9 rating.

It passed the “ TEST of Time” . I had 2 concrete walkways done: 1. a curved narrow walkway above my front lawn and it connected to 2. a straight walkway from my front door step to the sidewalk. I hesitated initially as I was warned that the concrete would crack over time. I had it done several years ago and to this day it still looks attractive, clean and not a single crack. In fact I love the curved upper walkway and it blends with the concrete Victoria window sills. If it were interlocking stones, it would be difficult to match color wise.. It is appropriate to wait after several years , over several winters, to show that Bernard and his staff has done a perfect job.
