Avoid this guy. He walked off with $60,000.00, poured a horrible foundation (that will cost $15000.00 to fix) and walked out on our contract. Now he won't return our calls or emails. He is not licensed to build in the texas (TRCC website search). He said he was bonded and we trusted him. He will act like he is closely associated with Real People Homes (a quality product, but use EcoHaus for your construction) but he is just a dealer who actually owes them money as well. During contract negotiations he sold us on a professional subcontractor who did beautiful concrete work then he put in our foundation with guys straight out of the HomeDepot parking lot. The foundation has a crown of close to an inch and a dips as deep as half an inch. Rebar is visible in multiple areas and it was supposed to be a stained concrete floor. As a result of trying to do business with this Richard Emery (A.K.A RL Emery, A.K.A Rick Emery) we have lost our previous house, due to demolition for the new home, and, due to the $60,000.00 he disappeared with, we probably can't afford to build our new home now. After I found out the foundation could be saved I gave him the opportunity to have a qualified cement contractor fix the foundation and move ahead with the project but still no response. Avoid at all cost. Pray the lawyers can get our money back. Good luck on your project, hope it goes better than ours.

Approximate cost of services:
$186,000.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
Completed the contract, not pocketed $60000.00, used subcontractors whose work was demonstrated before signing the contract. No used day laborers from the homedepot parking lot to float out my foundation. Used professional engineers and designers.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Get a copy of the liability insurance and bond paperwork. Call the companies to verify the coverage is current.
