I called Just Junk and Got Junk before calling Junk Squad. Their price was higher before the landfill fee was added. Just a word of advice for anyone using professional junk removal company, the quoted price does not include the landfill fee. Yea, I was shocked at the $400 fee but what can you do? Would you take haul the garbage out yourself? I am saving time and energy for the amount of work involved. Junk Squad is cheaper than others for sure. You only have to monitor them and make sure they take everything away. Don't sign off until you are sure there is no more garbage. Overall good service, just don't be shocked at the landfill fee.

Thanks Kei, for the review. We are glad you enjoyed the service on which we pride ourselves. Thank you for the good rating and we hope to do more service for you in the future. We value your opinions and use these comments to help improve our service.

With each transaction the reps offer a free onsite estimate before any job is started. If and only when the customer agrees to the terms and prices ,that when we will start the work

I wanted to address your concerns about the Landfill, there is as reason why on the website it says additional charges may apply. This is because every transaction is going to be different. Some customer's have items that are strictly donation items or recycled items and therefore there wouldn't be a landfill charge. As for other items what we try to do, unlike our competitors is we will go through the items to see if we can minimize peoples landfill cost by donation and recycling. Any remaining items that are left over is landfill bound. You the Customer is then charged that exact weight at $200.00 per metric ton. Not what the landfill charges us.
As for the Donations, after we have sorted the items and taken them to the donation centres they have the final say as to what they will take and what they will not. You and I may think items are in great shape, but if for whatever reason, weather it be damaged or just not enough floor space,And They reject the items then we have no choice but to take it to the landfill as we don't have a holding facility to store items at.

We Give the customers 3 options when it comes to dealing with the landfill.
OPTION 1. Pre paid option
- Our staff can include the estimated landfill cost into your load price, however when calculating weight on site staff must overshoot slightly to ensure they charge enough to cover the actual landfill disposal fee. This is a good option if you want to have a fixed rate at the time of the removal.
OPTION #2 Accurate Billing
- Customers will complete a landfill authorization form authorizing Junk squad to charge
your credit card for all the landfill bound junk that staff were unable to donate or recycle. The remiaining junk will be billed at a competitive rate of $200.00 /per ton billed accurately to the pound. This will ensure that you only pay for the weight disposed at the landfill. The is your best option for billing accuracy. Example: If you only have 1/4 ton of weight remaining after donations and recycling, your landfill cost will only be $50.00plus tax.
OPTION # 3 Exclude
- Our staff can notify you of all junk deemed landfill bound that has little to no chance of being accepted by a local charities or recycling centres. They will removal all except these items.

We are still the cheapest option. "other companies don't charge landfill.
Correct . Other companies have a flat rate price structure. Sounds great to have just one price however, not when it costs you 3 times more for the same service.

The way that you save is that we can fit 3 of our competitors trucks into 1 of ours.

Our Full Load Price $569.00 plus landfill

Competitors Full load Prices. 3x$5.99=$1797.00

Landfill weight under 200lbs collectively : Free Disposal
Landfill weight over 200lbs Collectivley : $200/Ton (2204lbs)
our full truck load average landfill $400/00

Total Savings $1228.00 for the same volume and better service.

I needed a Stucco specialist to finish the half-baked work the previous homeowner didn't finish before selling me the house. Typically shoddy work. My tenant found this company and I gave them a call. The owner name George was a great guy. Took the time to see the house and was almost going to decline the work because it was so badly done, he offered to finish the work. It took 2 days for the sealing to complete. I would use this company for future Stucco work in Hamilton.

Purchase a renovated property in Hamilton east side. Home inspector noted some shoddy electrical issues. I have 4 days before tenant moved in. I called a few places and only Kevin from Stack Electric respond back. Kevin was nice enough to scheduled me the next day. He replaced the chandeliers proper light fixtures, fixed the kitchen outlet, fixed the backyard outlet, and fixed the front porch outlet. I would use this company for all my electrical work in Hamilton. I paid over the phone and it was convenient.

Had another home inspection done by Rob on Mar 2. This would be my fifth time using 4Sight in 2 years. I met Rob last year training under Steve and this time Rob was running the show. Inspection was thorough and lasted for 3 hours. All my properties will be inspected by 4Sight. Booking the time I needed was great. I will recommend this to anyone looking for professional inspectors.

My rental property and needed gutters to be replaced. I called around and got 3 quotes. The first one came in at $3000, the second one came in $2500 and Infinity Gutter came in at 2K. I was not disappointed with my decision at all. The workmanship is amazing. Giro have been doing this since 1998. He has his nephew working with him for the last 3 years. Great team. In addition to new eavetrough with leaf guard, I asked them to remove the old satellite dish on the roof and patch the hole, cover the 4 columns, and cover the exposed wood on the 3 side of the house. They started at 8AM, and did not finish until 3PM. I chose white throughout because the neighbors were all brown and gray. Great service and price. What more can you ask for?

Discovered the basement shower faucet was not stopping water when it was shutoff. Water was still leaking from the shower head. I found this plumber on HomeStars, read some reviews and called them. They had to open a hole behind the shower wall to replace it. It was pricey but if you don't know what you are doing, and you are busy, leave it to the professional.

IF you want a real home inspector who works for you and not your agent, you call Steve. I hired Steve again to inspect my 2nd property in the same day!. The one thing I like about Steve is the ability to scheduled me in the last moment. Steve also brought another inspector he was training name Rob. So I got a 2 for 1 deal. 2 inspectors combing the house with twice as much detail. I look forward to working with Steve or Rob in the future. Great work guys!. It is hard to get good home inspectors who is willing to go as far as Kitchener.. hahaha.

Just a big thank you for your remarks, thats a huge compliment. Its not that often you will get 2 inspectors, I'm happy it worked out to your benefit. It is always a compliment when referred by a third party, its even better when a client trust in your skills and calls me back for another inspection. Thank you again. I needed a home inspector as early as next day. Had terrible experience in the past with home inspectors and was skeptical but needed one nevertheless. Took a gamble and booked 4Sight Inspections for Thursday Oct 15 2PM. First impression of Steve was good. He inspected the house in a methodological way. Starting with exterior, basement, main floor, 2nd floor, attic, roof and finish it with a thermal imaging scan. It took nearly 3 hours to complete the whole inspection. Very detailed work. This is my second time using home inspection from homestar and so far, this company is the best one. This company is a 2-person operation so you know they care about quality workmanship. The rate is reasonable for the amount of time and the quality of the report is amazing. My report is 79 pages long.

I got a new furnace last year and was told to get my duct cleaned to avoid dust buildup into the furance. I delayed it for a year but decided I needed to do it now. I was going to research but felt lazy and find this company on Toronto Sun. I watched their video and was impressed. There was also a 299 deal promo so I quickly made an appointment. Mark and his buddy showed up 8AM and didn't leave until 11:15AM. They were professional and explained the whole process before starting the work. I would use them again in the future.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Maybe improve their uniform. Wear pants with a belt and a proper tucked in shirt. I am kind of old school.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Vacuum the furnace and water heater area after duct cleaning. Replace the furance filter.

It was Thursday evening, I got city to shut off valve from outside. Called a few plumber but everyone was booked until Monday next week. Only Mister Plumber picked up and promised a plumber by the name of Alex to be there by 7pm. Alex was not very talkative but took his time to replace the shutoff valve to a new location. The quote is reasonable because it was similar to other quotes I got. Finished in 1 hour. Promised to come back if the pipe still leaks after the city turn back on the water but it worked so it means his workmanship was good

I bought the protection plan for $160 and didn't have to pay for the $609 repair work. I basically got my money back after one call. The only thing they don't cover is the hole in the wall. The parts and labor is free. Totally recommend this service.

Cover drywall patching after plumbing fix
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Sign up for plumbing protection before doing any plumbing work yourself. If you caused the leak just call Embridge to get a licensed plumber to fix it. Call as many times you want to get the most bang for your buck.

Initial assessment was professional and didn't feel any sales pressure. Kent was very knowledgeable and explained what will be done. They were going to spray enough to get R60 and the brand of cellulose is from Ontario. On day of appointment, they were on time and went straight to attic to start working. The guy who went up to spray was Kyle and he knew what he was doing. It took 2 hours to finish the 630 sq feet attic and they cleaned up after themselves. Kyle made sure cellulose was even across the attic.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Get a better vacuum cleaner.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Before any insulation, always make sure to air seal the attic and staple measurement tape. Research the different type of insulation and list all your questions and concerns. Get 3 or more quotes and ask those questions. Focus in getting the highest R-Value, environmental friendly, pest-control and locally sourced materials.

First time getting my roof done. Don't know a thing about roofing so started researching on the internet. Got 5 different quotes. Prices range from 4000 to 10000. Some of the roofers asked for down payments, used thinner plywood than standard, used CRC/BP shingles, wouldn't install baffles, wouldn't install washroom hose vents, wouldn't do basic repairs of eavestroughs or wouldn't even go up on the roof to do a proper evaluation. I went with this roofing company because the quote was reasonable. Not too cheap, and not too expensive. They don't require down payment, and willing to do small repairs I asked for. The main guy is Roy. He is your single point of contact from beginning to end. Anytime you have a question, call or email him and he will give you an honest answer. To save you the 3 month of research and get 25 years out of your roof the first time, ask for the following: plywood must be 1/2 inch thick nothing thinner, 6 feet ice/water/shield, rest of roof is synthetic felt (not tar paper), 3 inch drip edge all around, IKO/Certainteed/GAF fiberglass shingles, avoid BP and CRC, get 2 x large passive vent from Maximum Ventilation Model 301 - (I should have gotten 2). Always make sure to get plastic rafter vents, Roy can get that installed if you plan to open up the roof. Ask for 10 year warranty on their work and ask for WSIB insured. Another thing to remember, roofers are dependent on the weather so be patient and considerate. If you want quality and good workmanship, get these guys. They have 7-8 full time workers and well organized. They came at 8:00AM and finished at 5:00PM. Cleaned up driveway, and left. A unique thing about this company is that it been around since 1947. Think about the experience and knowledge they have when it comes to roofing.

Approximate cost of services:
$7,350.65
What could this company do to improve their services?
Nothing to improve as long as Roy is there to run the show.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Do your research and learn excel spreadsheet. Call a lot of roofers and organize it in excel. Don't rush it.
