Mo from Foam It was highly recommended by my general contractor after we decided to replace standard pink fiberglass insulation on our massive home reno project with the R-20 spray foam. I must admit I was a bit weary on the actual application of spray foam from a CBC report but after meeting and talking to Mo, all my fears and reservations were gone. It is a worthy note to mention that Mo is actually a rather well educated person ( B. Eng) and thus his explanation of the process of spray foam was technical and accurate in detail. Foam It has every reason to be proud of its work as and the product as I immediately noticed a big difference in warmth of our home during the cold days in February. In my son's bedroom we have a chimney stack on the exterior which had provided a fairly large thermal leak to that part of the wall. Mo made sure to apply foam to all areas and surfaces of these types of leaks. The job involved all bedrooms (3) kitchen and dining room and living room exterior walls. Every crevice and crack were filled with spray foam. Once Mo and his assistant had completed the job, the area was thoroughly cleaned and all excess foam swept and removed. I also want to make a special note here that our porcelain tiles in the kitchen were already installed and due to the general process of spray foam application, the residue would have destroyed the tiles. Mo had made EVERY attempt to cover the tiles with cardboard and painter's drop cloth to ensure the protection of the tiles. After the kitchen was completed, there was not a single particle of foam on the tiles. Foam It is definitely a very professional and customer oriented service which goes far and beyond the average level of customer satisfaction. They will be returning to address our attic insulation in the latter part of 2016. Thank you for the fantastic work and professional service guys.

As someone who had just spent a lot of money on the house renovation, I can unequivocally say that you will not meet a more professional and passionate person in their trade. While the contact with Leo and a loss of quote on the job may have completely derailed our business relationship, it was Leo who stepped up and corrected the whole situation. For this, I tip my hat off to this man as he was only interested in having a happy customer...and you certainly did, sir! Due to a very tight schedule on my renovation and Leo`s plans for a long weekend, he did everything to ensure the job would be completed in one day and with the highest quality possible. As I sat and watched Leo and his assistant (who came with a Ph.D..btw) perform a miracle of a railing job I was ashamed to have minimized this art to something much more simple and trivial. For that, I am sorry. All the railing work including a post were designed and built by this man to an amazing quality. When anyone walks into our home, the very first item is the oak stairs and railings (w/ black metal pickets). If every trades person paid as much attention to detail and quality as Leo does in his work we would be living in some exquisite homes. Unfortunately, that is not the case but we still have some very professional artists who can make something very beautiful out of a 8" x 8" piece of oak. To Gmano Railings and Leo, you will always be my railings guy. Thank you very much from myself and my family for making our home into a castle.

We had hired Ariel of Green Maple Home Renovations based on the large number of high ratings of Homestars reviews. We interviewed four or five other general contractors but decided to give Ariel a chance as he seemed sincere and his cost for the project was reasonable. This was our very first major renovation project with an eleven week duration. The work would entail a new kitchen, new 4-piece bathroom, a replacement to all exterior drywall and new wall insulation in addition to new hard wood flooring throughout the renovation area (3 bedrooms, hallways, living room and dining room ~1000 sq.ft) new doors, trim and crown molding to all the rooms. Drywall taping was completed by a group of sub contractors. All other work including electrical, railings and stairs, gas installation and spray foam insulation was performed by licensed trades people. Ariel and his crew (originally were 2 men but in the last three weeks of our project, one was dismissed/fired) were always on time 8 AM (M-F) and would generally finish around 4PM. The demolition work went relatively well and it took a week to remove all the old drywall, kitchen cabinets, bathroom tiles/flooring and old hardwood flooring. There was a bit of a hitch in our timing when it came to the electrical work as my electrician had applied for the permit too late and spray foam insulation could not be applied until the initial electrical inspection was completed. For this I take full ownership on this delay. Also there were some changes/additions to our planned reno which included a removal of a small pantry closet and adding the space to an existing shoes/jacket closet. We had also decided to make some changes to the ceiling in the livingroom/diningroom space and make it into a recessed cove with LED low voltage strip lighting. This required additional framing to an existing ceiling space. Also a new porcelain flooring was added to the foyer to match the tiles in the kitchen. New drywall went up over a period of about two weeks. The sub contractors for the drywall taping and finishing completed the job to an extremely high standard (sub-contracted through Ariel). At this point, some of the workmanship issues started to show; Ariel's work on the tiles in the bathroom and flooring was rather poor. We had spent a great deal of money on the marble tiles and glass accent but the overall result is poor. The unfortunate thing here is that Ariel was suppose to bring our main bathroom in tip top shape after a previous contractor had made a farce of the project and skipped out on the final finish and our money. The floor is slanted and comes with small dips and valleys. The wall over the tub has many sharp edges from the marble tiles not being plumb as too much or not not enough thin set was applied. This also goes for the floor tiles. There is only so much grout can hide from poor workmanship of a tile work. The kitchen porcelain tiles were done to a better standard compared to the bathroom. The hardwood flooring was done very well and no issues were observed. The kitchen exhaust hood had a larger opening cut (to accommodate 6 inch vent) and thus a piece of mdf board was painted and stuck around the perimeter of the stainless steel casing. The stainless steel trim also received a paint job from this job. In framing one of the corner beams, the interior corner is offset from the exterior by about 3/4" and thus it presents itself as a twisted support beam. Interior closet trim was never installed and open gap remains. The quality of painting in the living room/dining room hallways is what I would refer as amateurish. Our kitchen ceiling has parts of discolouration and visible tracking as if the roller had skipped the surface with paint. The same goes for dining room and living room ceiling. Parts seem almost unpainted. All trim work including crown molding and floor baseboard has signs of too much caulking around the corner joints and nailing. When painted it presents itself as jagged and unfinished surface. All closet doors and entry door hinges (and its hardware) have a lot of paint on them. Many of the hinge pins were only half way installed. The paint on all doors (both closet, bedroom and bathroom) show paint runs. Five of eleven doors installed have top surface unpainted. While I am writing this review I am attempting to keep any personal feelings off the pages but it is rather difficult knowing the sacrifice as an owner I had endured (lived in the house with my dog for eleven weeks) in order to supervise and provide Ariel with all the material as quickly as possible. Unfortunately the sacrifice of my act somehow just does not measure to the quality of work we had received or were provided by Green Maple Home Renovations. Final quality finish does not seem to be in the menu of Green Maple Home Renovations. In closing of my review of Green Maple Home Renovations, the question of allowing Ariel to make up and repair these issues I have given him ample time to provide us with a much better product but after three additional weeks I had become tired of waiting and thus have gone and hired another contractor. Would I recommend Green Maple Home Renovations to other people on a project of our size? No, I would not as the quality of work just does not measure to a professional general contractor level. The finish quality is medium and not what I had expected from Green Maple Home Renovations.

Hello Mr. Subotic,

We always welcome the feedbacks of our clients, specially when they are in person because reflects better honesty and transparency as we do when we sign the contract at the end of the project with the compliance form.

It is kind of confusing your review since during the project we discuss every day, what was done, what we fixed and everything that needed to be changed. So 4 is really low.

We found several wrong things there and fix it and even go 110 miles more to make you and your wife happy. Now that was not enough? Well sorry about that. We always give 110.

Is real that the finish is important as well, but craftsman and humans we have limitation specially when tile material is not the best, also good to clarify that I have peace of mind as we said before, during and after make clear that marble was not a good option for bathrooms and kitchens, because they have to be sealed all the time, they are fragile as stone and cuts are not always good, no wonder anybody install it anymore in those areas. I won’t take too long to go over all that you mention because you and I have perfectly knowledge of what is right, fair and all stories has 50 % on each side. Paint I fix all the mistakes my self took me two weeks to do this with the new paint you supplied since the first paint we used was 1 year or so old something I was not happy to do but again flexibility was my weakness knowing that the boomerang factor will be there.

Also to help you out in next renovations is important to make clear to your General Contractor 3 things:

1- Your quality expectations, since we do not have a magic ball, we go as far as we could but budget and material works against that final quality, so in this way we can advise you better what to buy and what to do and budget according to those expectations.
2- Don’t wait until the end to say I don’t like this because things could be changed in the middle but once are done will be there forever and is frustrating for both you and us because opposite to your thoughts we care about quality and yes we do quality work as we have done in the other clients that very kindly had give us the fair reviews with the right rates.
3- Changing the contractor because some of the employees did a bad job does not change anything after these years in the business trust and reliability is what counts. We all learn from every project.

Thank you again for your time in the review and good luck in your next renovation.

Our family has just gone through a massive reno which required a lot of upgrades and additions to our lighting, multimedia, floor heating and the basic wiring segment of electrical work. We had about seven or eight electrical contractors provide us with their quotes and ideas on the this work. There were two or three who were immediately above the rest with their knowledge and professionalism. Mark Tan from Modern Electric Co. came to our home with a smiling face and an assurance of professional tradesman who spent time in answering every question and providing ideas along the way. Since this was a first time our home received a major uplift I wanted to get much of the newer/smart technology installed and Mark was up on every facet of this job; From the LED lighting, kitchen under counter lights to initiating a rewire to our media centre, installing security cameras, data cables throughout the house and offering an idea on heated floor I felt had these guys truly had my interest in hand. My wife and I knew that we picked the best electrical contractor for our reno project. We met Marc DeCaria on the day the electrical work had commenced and it is to this man that I owe a special sense of gratitude and thanks for an idea to an addition to our living room/dining room lighting. The day the electrical work had started I was in awe with all the electrical apprentices these guys have brought. Every one was very pleasant and very courteous. I have found both gentlemen incredibly professional and easy to get in touch when required. All my text messages and telephone calls were answered almost immediately (even after hours) which I truly appreciate. Anyone looking for an electrical contractor of the highest caliber, give Modern Electric Co a chance and I guarantee you will not be disappointed. And, from myself and my family, thanks very much guys for an amazing experience and perfect job. P.S. These guys are coming back soon to do our basement and family room in early 2017.

Super nice service. Andy went out of his way to pick the best mattress for my son. Helped me in locating a source for a matching bed frame (not at Ton Furniture). Definitely worth their current score. Thanks to all for a great service.

After several quotes from various garage door vendors, I came across Rob. He was very honest and professional in answering all my questions. I was educated on certain aspects of garage doors manufactured in US vs. the cheaper brand from China (which many of the suppliers seem to prefer unfortunately). My two phone calls after office hours were followed by a call from the owner which means a lot. The next day, Anthony and Hector came to install two 8' x 7' garage doors and were just perfect. We talked a bit and again, I learned a bit about garage doors and it made me realize that Maple O/H Garage Doors trully cares about their customers. Many of us are tired of Wal Mart business culture, but Maple's philosophy is simple; One customer at the time because we know our stuff and we care about our satisfied customer. I thank you Rob, Anthony and Hector for a fantastic experience and will definitely recommend you to my family and friends.
