I purchased a new Oceanfront home with a Bionest sewerage treatment system in 2018. Three years later during a service check I found that although properly designed and installed, the system was not properly commissioned. Working with the original engineer, Van Isle Septic was able to properly assess and identify the remedial steps to resolve the issues. After a few visits, my system was up and running as designed. Brad and Kyle were friendly, professional, knowledgeable and comprtent! I highly recommend this company.

Castor Tree is professional, courteous and experienced. Fehr was quick to come over and provide a reasonable quote to trim my two birch tree stands and removal of several tree stumps (removed as a result of a major home renovation project). It was a collaborative process - trimming the canopy to meet my neighbours' request and maintain the health of the trees. The work area was left undamaged and all debris was removed. Removal of 8 tree stubs in a very confined space was done manually and with a stump grinder. It was a lot of work but my front & back yards are now clean and ready for replanting. I am completely statisfied with their work, and will use them for all future tree trimming and maintenance work. Highly recommend Fehr and his crew for large and small tree care needs.

I live in a 120+ year Victorian house in Cabbagetown. I wanted to 'refresh' my exterior - and went with new brick work (Hunt Heritage Masonry ) and new black slate roof with copper dormer, flashing and gutters (M&R Roofing). However, my exterior front door had developed cracks - and was draughty . Finding a solid wood door and transom was not an easy task. After speaking to many local suppliers, I found a gorgeous door system at a reasonable cost. Steve at MD Doors was most helpful in proposing various options - and I selected a beautiful, pre-finished European solid 'ash' door - naturally finished with multi-lock system, with transom window above. Although they offered multiple glass options, I went with antiqued custom-made glass made into themopanes from Cascade Hand Cut Crystal Inc. MD Doors picked up and installed the two glass inserts into the door system before bringing it on-site. The installation crew was extremely professional, courteous and meticulous. Very diligent and great cleanup after the work was completed. Strongly recommend MD Doors for a great product and professional service. Howard from Old Toronto

I live in a 120+ year Victorian house in Cabbagetown. I recently rebuilt my brick work (Hunt Heritage Masonry ) at the front of the house and wanted to ensure my roof would be aesthetically attractive and match the exceptional quality of the masonry. M&R Roofing had done most of the houses on my street (and neighborhood) and it was a natural fit to get them to do my roof as well. With Maciej's guidance, I agreed upon black slate with a scalloped pattern, and copper dormer, flashing and gutters. Slate and copper are speciality materials, and M&R has exceptionally trained staff with the experience and skills to cut and install the slate, and custom build copper work on site. M&R's crew was extremely professional, courteous and meticulous. Very diligent and great cleanup after the work was completed. Strongly recommend M&R Roofing to others who need roofing, sheet metal and gutter work. Howard from Old Toronto

Company Response

Howard, thank you for taking the time to leave a comprehensive and honest Homestars review following the slate roofing and copper work we completed. We appreciate clients like yourself that take great pride in ownership of their homes especially those great looking row houses on your street. Maciej is really knowledgeable in the slate application and I am glad his guidance resulted in an aesthetically pleasing result. Great work on the home and enjoy the 100 year roof.

I live in a 120+ year Victorian house in Cabbagetown. Like many of the houses it had been painted and then sand-blasted to restore the brick. Removing the paint removed the hard surfaced and the brick was badly eroding (spalling). I interviewed 3 different masons, and Barkley Hunt displayed the required knowledge and skills to complete the heritage work. Barkley secured the necessary City Heritage permits to rebuild the entire front facade with orange and buff UBS brick (of the same colour and style as the original), limestone mortar and limestone sills. We needed to special order the dog-legged brick from England for the bay window. Since the work was done in March with evening temperatures below 10', they covered the porch and used propane heaters to ensure the mortar cured properly. Hunt Heritage Masonry are friendly, knowledgeable and meticulous. A true professional masonry contractor who takes pride in their work. After seeing and admiring the restoration at the front of the house, I had them also replace my window and door sills at the rear of the house. Similarly, my neighbor was so impressed by the quality and attention to detail, they had them replace their front brickwork as well. Strongly recommend Hunt Heritage Masonry to others who need masonry work. Howard from Old Toronto
