Called Jay during the week and he was able to come the next day (too soon for me, so had hm come on Saturday). Job was to clean some really, really dirty tiles & grout in foyer & mudroom (slate and marble). Probably around 250-300 Sq ft. Jay and his coworker (forgot his name) were prompt, polite, cleaned up the work area and did a great job. Tiles in the mudroom were so dirty, he went over them again. Will definitely call Jay when need to clean them again. I did a lot of checking out and price was very good compared to others.

My furnace was over 20 years old, so I've been expecting that I would have to replace it for quite a while. One cold January night, it stopped working, but I had a DE heating protection plan and they were able to get it restarted. In March, same problem (heat exchanger corroding and the rust clogging the pressure switch) and, again, the DE guys got it going (after a cold night without heat). I decided that it was finally time to replace. With the furnace working again (albeit temporarily), I did have the luxury to get DE, AtlasCare and Spring Home in to quote on the replacement and I was not be under pressure to make a quick/expensive decision. I had not heard of Spring Home previously, but one of my wife's friends had used them and was very pleased, so I called them. Bijan from Sprong Home was terrific and came by the same day I called. He also provided the best quote (and there were no games or back-and-forth on pricing like the other guys). I actually got a slightly larger unit than Bijan suggested so there was no steering me to the most expensive model. Also, the Lennox furnace I got seems to be better quality (and rated higher by Consumers Reports) than the York and Amana models that were being offered by the other guys. The time between making the decision and installation was a few days, but I wasn't in a rush (and Bijan mentioned that no heat customers could get installation sometimes the next day). In any event, the installers (I've forgotten their names right now!) did a great job. Everything was neat and tidy, no mess left, all duct work was neatly done, new intake and exhaust pipes neatly installed, drainage hoses nicely angled and secured and they took time to show me what they did and explain how things work. Took about 5 or 6 hours from start to finish. They also started the paper work for the OPA rebate and followed up afterwards to make sure that the furnace was working ok. In conclusion, I was very, very impressed by Spring Home and would absolutely recommend using them without any reservations whatsoever.

I’ve never given out 10 stars, but in this case, Ross and Lucas did an absolutely fantastic job and deserve 10+! Here’s the story: I discovered that the contractor that we used to renovate our house 5 years ago never vented the bathroom fans outside and so all the humid bathroom air was just being pushed into the attic. The result was mold in the attic. After reading all the good reviews on Homestars, I called Ross. I also called a couple of other mold removal companies to come over to take a look and give me a quote. Ross came over in the next day or two and (patiently) explained the problem and how he proposed to deal with it. I was obviously very concerned with the word “mold” and figured this was going to be a huge project to get rid of the mold, but Ross really put my mind at ease and suggested a reasonable and reasonably priced solution – an acid spray and then scrub. Other companies (once they took a few days to return my call and then took a few more days to set up an appointment and then a few more days to send me a quote) wanted to use a much more extreme and expensive solution (remove all our current insulation and blast the mold with dry ice). On the day they came over, Ross and Lucas were great. They showed up on time, explained everything, got rid of the mold and took great efforts to minimize any mess (especially since access to the attic is through the closet in my bedroom) and cleaned up everything. If this was all that they did, I would have given them 10 stars. But Ross went even further and this is where I’d give him the “+”– Ross was able to arrange for a very reasonably-priced contractor to come (on the same day of the mold cleaning) to install proper exhaust vents (in fact, I liked the contractor so much, I’ve had him come to do a few more little jobs at my house!). Ross also suggested a terrific company to use to top up the insulation in my attic. All in all, I am extremely pleased and delighted to have used Ross. While I hope to never see him again (for mold removal!), I have no hesitation unreservedly recommending Ross if you have a mold problem. Stu Miller, Toronto

Thanks Stu, when it comes to attics you are still the only hands on customer we've had this year. Glad you were pleased with Rob's work too....Cheers...Ross
