Just had Hossein and his team come to install 30+ potlights, 4 dimmers and swap out some existing light fixtures (two chandeliers). Could not be happier with how this went as the team was very professional and answered all of our questions pertaining to placement and number of potlights to brighten our home. Definitely recommend these guys and will be looking to bring them back for exterior potlight work in the future. Great work!

We hired Chris and his crew to remove a dying Colorado Blue Spruce from our front yard. We had quotes from 3 different vendors before choosing Higher Place Tree care. What set Chris apart was his professionalism and his willingness to walk me through the entire process - from the creation of the arborist report, to obtaining a city permit and then to the actual tree removal and stump grinding. On the day of the actual tree removal work, he arrived on time and systematically went about his work. As an engineer myself, I really appreciated the methodical way he and his team cut the tree in sections and then strategically used a series of ropes and pulleys to bring down the final 30 foot section of the trunk while using other cut down sections to cushion the fall and minimize collateral damage to my lawn. The cleanup was also very well done and my neighbours have commented that it looks even cleaner than before they did the job. Overall we are very pleased with the work and would not hesitate to utilize the services of Chris and his team again. Great work

I was using my 25+ year old washing machine when I got the dreaded "LR" code. I first tried to diagnose it myself but a simple Google search told me that the problem could span a number of different issues. I quickly gave Joe a call (as he had fixed our 25+ year old dryer about 3 years ago) and made arrangements for him to swing by the next day. Joe was courteous and thorough as usual - taking a very systematic approach in diagnosing the root cause of the problem. In the end, the issue was most likely due to a blockage in the drain pipe as everything cleared up when Joe ran the initial drain cycle. Joe's attention to detail and expert knowledge in the field is second to none. I would not hesitate to contact him again should I run into any issues with my appliances. Great work Joe.

Not much to say here - we had AHS come in to seal our double driveway with Black Mac driveway sealer. Kyle was on time to give the initial quote and was prompt in completing the work on the Friday before the May long weekend. He did a good job of filling in most of the major cracks with a rubberized crack repair fluid and thoroughly sealed the driveway. Will most likely utilize their services again in 2 to 3 years when we need to reseal again.

I was in a bit of a bind yesterday as my torsion springs of our garage door suddenly broke. I quickly went on homestars and found Chris' company and gave him a call - I told him about what happened, he gave me a quote on the phone and was at my house within 1.5 hours. When he arrived, he was courteous and respectful of my garage (as I had a car stuck in there and a bunch of other things) and he was able to replace everything within 30 minutes. I am very happy with the service of Easy Access Garage Doors and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others who require garage door work.

This is the second time we have used the services of Aqua Tech - we originally had them come in last year to do exterior waterproofing along an area of our basement (I wrote a review for that work as well). This time, we decided to do the remaining waterproofing on the inside (as it made more sense both logistically and financially) and to replace the original clay sanitary pipe under our basement floor. We worked with Nico to scope/price everything out and once again they were able to offer a competitive quote when compared to some of the other vendors. Once we decided to move forward, they were able to schedule us in for the subsequent week and Terry and his brother Andrew (both super nice guys and hard working as hell) came in for 3 days straight to do the work. Both of them were very respectful of our home and kept the work area as clean as possible. They encountered some unexpected plumbing issues done by the previous owner but were able to implement a reasonable solution in a timely manner. Overall, we are very happy with their work and have no hesitation providing a referral. Keep up the great work guys!

We recently hired Andrew to remove a medium-sized tree from our property and stump grind. Our experience from the initial contact, quote estimation, scheduling and performing the service was seamless. What I liked most about working with Andrew is that all communications were electronic (this is 2018 after all) and I didn't need to schedule an onsite visit for a quote (hence I didn't have to take a day off work!). I could send him the pictures of the tree/work area along with all of the dimensions and he provided me with a competitive quote. The work itself was performed well and my lawn was actually cleaner than when he started. Thanks Andrew and we will definitely be reaching out if we require any further services in the future!

When it started to get warm two weeks ago, we noticed that our 20 year old Carrier AC unit just wasn't able to get the house cool. It was struggling to maintain the temperature and was essentially on throughout the entire day and night. I knew something wasn't right so decided it was time to bite the bullet and get a new one. Luckily, I had received a quote in 2016 from Convertible Heating for a furnace, hot water tank and AC unit replacement. At that time, I only ended up buying the furnace and hot water tank from them so I decided to give Marnie a shout to see if she could requote me for the same spec AC unit. She responded to my e-mail within 3 hours and although 2 years had passed since the quote, she ended up giving me a great deal on a new unit. Even better, she was able to accommodate a Sunday installation (within 72 hours of me agreeing to the price) and the installation team was fantastic. We are very pleased with the AC unit and now don't have to worry about the upcoming summer months.

We just got windows replaced by Total Home Windows & Doors (most under GreenOn program). We met with 2 other vendors before deciding to go with Vitaly and Total Home. The main drivers for our decision were the price, quality of product and overall responsiveness to inquiries. I cannot tell you how many times I texted Vitaly and received a response from him within a couple of minutes. His dedication to client satisfaction was clear from the very beginning so we decided to move forward with the installation. On installation day, Urii and his team member arrived early in the morning and worked non stop throughout the day. I had watched some videos on the SAWDAC-approved brick to brick installation and was very impressed with seeing Urii do exactly what I had seen. The crew cleaned up well (with the exception of debris that fell in the snow but I don't fault them for that) and was very respective of my home. Overall, I would highly recommend the company - and a big thank you to Vitaly and Urii for a job well done.

We hired Tim from the Home Inspectors Group/ Ridge Energy Consultants to do a Home Energy Audit for us. They were recommended by our Furnace company so we decided to go with them and I managed to set up the appointment fairly quickly by calling them. Tim showed up as scheduled, setup the fan blower and walked me through in detail what he was doing. He then told me about next steps and when he should come back post installation of the new furnace. He also gave me a detailed report on potential areas to address which would help make our home more energy efficient. Overall, we are very pleased with our experience and he helped us get the Enbridge/IESO rebates in a timely manner so I would recommend Tim and the firm.

We called in Petra to do an initial deep clean of our home. She came on time with her associate and I walked them through the home to show them the scope of the cleaning to be done. They both got to work promptly and divided their tasks to work efficiently as possible. I was very impressed with the level of service and the eco products they used. The work was done very well (especially with cleaning the gunk out of the grout of my bath tiles) as I don't ever remember it being so clean and Petra is a very pleasant individual to work with. We were so impressed with their work that we will be continuing with a monthly cleaning with them.

This summer, we experienced a lot of rain which unfortunately revealed a leak in our basement. We contacted 4 different waterproofing companies and Aqua Tech was actually the last one who came in to give a quote due to how busy they were. When Nico came by, he was very thorough in his assessment of the situation and came up with a number of options to help us solve the problem. His professionalism, easy going demeanor and competitive pricing convinced us to work with him and Aqua Tech. He scheduled us in for the long weekend and the team (Bob and Bill) came everyday at by 8:30 AM to get to work. Now I have to say, we've worked with a lot of vendors in the past and have seen some dedicated tradesman but these guys are HARD working. They had to manually dig the trench to do the waterproofing as my backyard didn't have sufficient space to allow a mechanical digger to come in. They did this back breaking work from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM on the first day without any breaks and didn't complain. They also documented all of their work and sent me the photos of each step performed. Once the exterior work was done, they came back to dig up the basement and install the sump pump. The work area was always kept contained to limit the distribution of dust and they cleaned up well after. They even did some landscaping for me by making a hybrid buried discharge connection with both the sump pump discharge an my existing downspout. Overall, we are extremely pleased with the work done by Aqua Tech. Their great work, fantastic team and 25 year transferable warranty have earned them a well deserved reputation here on Homestars. If I could give them a score of 11 out of 10 I would.

Last week, we experienced a thaw/freeze cycle of weather which caused my garage door to freeze to the garage floor. Unfortunately for me, my existing garage door opener was an older Genie which had a plastic gear that cracked and shattered in half after it struggled to open the door. I quickly went on Homestars and called 5 different places to see who could swing by to either repair/replace the garage opener. Garage Door Geeks was among the first ones of to pick up the phone when I called. They asked me a series of questions to diagnose the potential problem and then gave me a 2 hour time window of when they would arrive that afternoon. I received text messages on when they would depart and estimated time of arrival. When they got here, they gave me some options and given the fact that my garage opener was already 18 years old, recommended to install a new one. I agreed and they came by the next afternoon to replace the old one with a new LiftMaster. I am very pleased with both their workmanship and the courtesy text messages they gave me during the whole process. I was actually not at my home when they arrived to do the install but that was agreed upon before hand and they gave me text message updates of their work. When I got home, everything was done, cleaned up and they spent the time to walk me through the operation/maintenance of my new hardware. Fantastic value at a reasonable price....thank you Garage Door Geeks!

I was using my dryer one day and noticed that it was making a significant vibration noise. It still worked but the noise was definitely not encouraging to hear. I quickly went on Homestars and made some calls. Joe was the first one to get back to me and he asked me a series of questions to narrow down the possible issues. He also managed to squeeze me in between appointments so I could get it resolved asap. After he arrived, he carefully took the machine apart and identified the likely culprits. He replaced a drum roller and thoroughly cleaned the fin area which was caked with lint as it had not been cleaned since the late 90s. After reassembling the machine and testing it, the noise was eliminated and all worked as expected. Needless to say, I am very pleased with Joe's professionalism and his candidness in discussing the possible issues. I will not hesitate to call him for any other appliance repairs I have. PS: PLEASE note that Joe is THE APPLIANCE GUY --> Not to be confused with THE APPLIANCE REPAIR GUYS....the two companies are not even comparable (see the other company's Homestars Reviews)

Our front door had exterior paint that was cracked/falling off as a result of the cold weather we experienced last winter. We originally contacted a number of painters to remediate but none of them were willing to strip the paint completely off, prime it and apply paint again (or at least do it at a reasonable price). As a result, we started looking around for alternate service providers who would do the job properly without charging an arm and a leg. That's where Ross came into the picture. From the initial contact with him, it was clear that he is not only professional but also knowledgeable in the trade. He assessed the problem and actually proposed the solution I was thinking of so we decided to move forward. Ross and Erik arrived as scheduled and walked me through what they were going to do. They ensured to keep the work area clean and did an excellent job in stripping the door, priming it and refinishing the front of my door. While they were here, I asked them to also look at a gap I had in my chain link fence and they were able to address that problem as well. Overall, we are very pleased with the work that has been done and I would not hesitate to contact them again for handyman work that I do not have the time to do myself. Great job guys.

I called the Dryer Vent Wizards to replace my old dryer ducting and vent that had some holes and not up to fire code. In spite of some small hiccups dealing with their American call center (clearly based in the Southern states from the accents), the appointment was scheduled and Leighton came earlier than expected. He gave me a courtesy call ahead of time though to confirm I would be home and I was more then willing to have him come earlier so I could head back to the office for the day. Leighton came in, put on his booties and came down to the basement to assess the situation. We discussed different solutions for routing and he quoted me on the spot. I agreed to the quote and he completed the job within an hour. He did a very thorough cleanup and vacuumed the space quite well. I felt kind of bad because the place was cleaner than when he started the job. :) Overall, I am very pleased with their work and highly recommend them.

We decided to replace our 18 year old furnace and water heater so we called around and got quotes from 3 different vendors. Of the three that came, Marnie of Convertible Heating was the only one who did a full walk down of our home (both internal and external) and asked about any insulation work we did as well as any heating/ air conditioning distribution issues. From there, I knew that she would be the one we wanted to work with as she spent the time to truly assess our needs. Her quote was competitive with the others and even though slightly more costly, she had my trust. When the installation team came (the Adam and Adam duo) they were professional and very respectful of my home, placing drops sheets everywhere and completing a very thorough job and cleanup. They explained everything to me as they were doing it as I watched a lot of the work they did. Overall, we are very pleased with the work and we now even have the added benefit of our air conditioner being more effective as the furnace blower seems to be distributing our AC air more effectively throughout our home! Thanks Convertible Air - you will definitely get our referral to friends and family!

We hired Harmony Tree Service after comparing two different quotes for tree/bush removal and stump grinding of both existing stumps and the new ones. Damien and Dante quoted me quickly and we decided to go with them as they were easy going and yet very professional. They actually did the cutting job for me while I was at work but came to finish off the grinding when I was back home. I am very pleased with their work as they kept the area quite clean and even took on some additional yard waste for me that I couldn't store for the next pickup cycle. These guys are great and have a stellar crew. I will definitely call them again when I need to tackle the rest of my backyard.

We originally hired Devon to patch up our tiled front stairs which were falling apart (tiles were cracked and falling off). He arrived early on a Saturday morning and worked meticulously to remove the tiles from the stairs while preserving the tiles on the porch. After removing everything, we saw that the stairs were not worth patching so we decided to place Banas stone slabs on them instead. He gave us a number of colour options and worked very quickly to secure them for us and install them on the following Monday. We absolutely love our new stairs and have had many compliments from our neighbours. We happily gave them Dynamic Brick & Stone's contact information and perhaps we will be seeing more of their work on our street.

I hired Mr.Handyman to adjust some interior door hinges and to swap an existing outdoor GFCI outlet. Rob gave me a courtesy call 30 minutes before arrival and I was pleased with the quote he gave me for the scope of work. He was able to grab the required supplies out of his truck and he finished the work within an hour of arrival. Overall, I am very pleased with the experience and would consider hiring them for similar scale jobs.

We hired hotwire electric to convert our old fuse box to an electrical panel as well as to install a new garage outlet for the garage door opener. Adam and his partner arrived early in the morning and did a very thorough and meticulous job of installing both the breaker panel and the new outlet. They were both very polite and took the time to label the panel properly as well as clean up after they completed their work. We are very happy with their service and although they are more costly then some of thequotes we received, we will consider them for future electrical work.

We are very happy with the steel side door we purchased from Clera. From beginning to end, the experience was great. Ron came by and provided us all the literature around their doors and the options available to us. We wanted something simple yet elegant and he delivered on those requirements. Diego came by to do the installation and he did a flawless installation in complete silence (quiet guy but very good at his work). Overall we are very pleased and would highly recommend Clera.

We chose Insta-Insulation to top up the insulation in our backsplit home. We received quotes from 4 different companies and decided to go with Insta-insulation because they were the most thorough in their quote and the salesman (Brandon) was the most professional. When it came to the installation itself, Aiden (sp?) and his partner were very thorough in their work and respectful of the workspace. They did their best to clean up using their vacuum but there was just so much dust from the blown in cellulose insulation that my Dyson canister was full. Nonetheless, we are very pleased with their work and hope that our heating bills will decrease!

We hired Professional Roofers to replace our roof after comparing against a number of other roofers. Sebastien came out to meet us and answered all of the questions we had (and we had a very exhaustive list). He was also very professional and responsive in addressing our inquiries by cellphone. with regards to the installation itself, the crew arrived early on both days and did a great job in getting things done to ensure everything was completed on time. The reason why I am rating them 8 out of 10 as opposed to anything greater is that their clean up left much to be desired. The crew left the work site after doing a light clean up. I say light clean up because when I walked the perimeter of the house, I collected over 2 dozen nails on the ground. Luckily, the supervisor came later that day to inspect the work and he volunteered to walk with me around my house to collect any errant nails with his magnetic sweeper. We collected another 30+ nails with that. He apologized for their carelessness and took some photos of all the nails collected, assuring me that head office would be informed of this. Overall, we are still quite pleased with their work in spite of these hiccups.

We called Vance to help us remove a number of carpenter ant nests in our front and back yards in May. He took the time to explain everything he was doing and was very meticulous in the areas where he sprayed. He did a great job and we were ant free for about 5 months. We recently called him back as a number of nests were sprouting up from ants which migrated over from my neighbours yard. Vance came quickly and wiped out these junior nests and we are ant free again! I highly recommend Vance and the pest-o-kill folks

My furnace wasn't working and I gave a call to Reliable Home Comfort based on Homestar reviews. Rob scheduled an appointment with me for the following day and Dave arrived to assess the situation. He opened up our furnace and quickly found the problem - the igniter needed to be replaced. He had the part in his truck and about 10 minutes later everything was working and I had heat in the house again!

I hired LockSmith Care to re-key an existing door lock and to install 2 new locks with the same key in my new home. He arrived promptly and provided excellent advice on how to maintain proper lock security. All work was done quietly and efficiently with good clean up at the end. I am very pleased with his work.

We selected Apex Window Films to install security film on our front door sidelites and the rear patio door to give us some peace of mind. Neil came in on a weekend to measure our doors and gave us a very fair price. They also worked with me in scheduling the installation and caulking and accommodated my schedule (they came in at 7 AM on a weekday so I could still head to work). Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of their workmanship [Lorenzo is a superstar] and their willingness to come back and fix minor issues (some small bubbling on the sidelite film). I highly recommend Apex Windows for window film work.

I had to call for emergency plumbing work to be completed as there was a steady leak to come from two basement water valves. I found these guys on Homestars and called them, who dispatched Ziggy to my house within 2 hours. He was very polite and professional during the entire repair, walking me step by step on what he was doing so I could feel more at ease. He is exceptionally knowledgeable in the trade and went above and beyond what I would deem to be good service from a plumbing professional. If I require plumbing work in the future, I will definitely call them again and specifically ask that they dispatch him (yes, he is that good!!).

After contacting a number of moving companies for quotes, we decided to go with Wil-can as they offered both the best rate and the least amount of minimal hour charge. When Raymond and his team arrived, they were on time and ready to get going. They worked very hard and even jogged back to my unit each time they offloaded the items into the elevator (I lived in opposite ends of the building). They also took extra care in wrapping up my furniture in shrink wrap and treated everything very well. Once we got to the new house, they were also very respectful of my request to take their shoes off before entering the house as we had installed new carpets/hardwood. Overall, I am very pleased with Wil-can and will definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for reliable movers.

After reviewing several quotes across 5 different vendors, we decided to work with Rockstella to get our kitchen countertops completed. Working with Natallia and Sergey was an extremely pleasant experience as they were very accomodating to our schedule and needs. Natallia was very patient with us and generated well over 10 quotes as we couldnt land on whether we wanted to go with granite or quartz. They even went out of their way to come by my place on Mothers Day to measure the surface area of work so that we could get the countertop installed in time for our move in date. We are very pleased with the quality of their work and highly recommend them!
