We used to love Benjamin Moore paint and considered it one of the best quality paints - 15+ years ago. They have gone downhill. Also this establishment has changed hands and we found the new ownership to be less than helpful in resolving our issues with the paint. We got several gallons, and the first gallon was fine, the next one we used had all kinds of 'bits' in it that ended up looking like a poor finish that needed to be sanded and repainted...- our guess is maybe the paint was very old stock or just a bad batch, but upon returning it and trusting they might replace this bad gallon, they called the manufacturer and said it should be fine, gave it another shaking and a cheesecloth to strain out the bits. At over $50 a gallon, I don't expect to 'strain out the bits' from the paint. Both the store and BM should have the where-with-all to replace the product. The overall quality of BM paint is so mediocre now, we will no longer use it and can get the same or better quality paint from General for half the price. We will not patronize this store again.
Lots of interesting pieces in the industrial antique genre we love. However......most items carried are reproductions and 'made in China'. Don't be fooled as you are not getting authentic antiques in most cases, with the exception of the wrought iron fencing. So as long as you are well informed and are ok with re-pro's....then go for it :) *** Update: right you are, I was referring to the antique market not the antique warehouse. I stand corrected - I would delete this review but there is no option for that. Will contact Homestars directly to have them delete.
You are confusing us with The Antique 'Market' who sells precisely what you mentioned. They are located on Franklin Street and we are located on Marine Drive. We do NOT sell any Chinese or Indian reproductions. We strictly sell Antique and vintage furniture imported from Europe. This dealer opened up 5 years after us and virtually copied our name brand which creates this confusion all the time.

I love their products, so on design trend and great materials. The hardware we purchased for the bathroom vanity - Lugaro in polished chrome - are pricey but worth it. Great quality. Love their linens, hardware and lighting. The only negative is how expensive some of their products are, and I havent been overly impressed with the furniture quality. Having said that, we do have our eye on their Empress Bed...such a statement piece!
BM paint has always been superior to other brands, its a great product. Staff at this location are really good - I was skeptical when I went on a weekend and two young staff members were there, thinking what do these kids know about paint? Pleasantly surprised they knew alot! Maybe its a family owned business. The young lady that helped me had some good recommendations, knew her product well, and seemed engaged in what she was doing. I will be making future purchases there.
