I wanted a new fridge because we inherited a pretty crappy one. I decided to go with a newer used model to save some money. Ned Doza has a store in Perryville and in Cape Girardeau. I went to the Perryville site, which looked like someone's garage with a bunch of appliances. Most seemed pretty old but I found a good deal on a Kenmore that was newer and ran well. My biggest gripe: They only took Visa and Mastercard (I use Discover). But I got the fridge and they drove it all the way to Jackson for only $25. Plus it came with a 30 Day guarantee. All in all not a too bad experience.

Michael Tanner (and connected Rust and Martin) are two big names in Cape Girardeau furniture stores. I went there during a special sale. There was a pretty good selection but most of the furniture seemed to be of the executive type, very big, lots of leather, etc. Also, the prices were astronomical, even with the sale! I managed to get a good deal on the coffee table because I ordered it from one of their suppliers, and still got the percent off on it. Our salesgirl was super nice and helpful, and answered all of our questions about different wood colors. Everyone that worked there seemed to be in a great mood. Nice atmosphere, but not for every budget.

We decided that a new couch was in order for the living room. We visited many local places and some chains, like Ashley furniture. My husband and I are both pretty modern and we hate leather, so we were having a hard time finding a sofa that met our sensibilities. We tried Hutson's, a local furniture store that has been in business for a ton of years. We weren't expecting much but we found the couch of our dreams...on clearance!!! The salesman was very nice and even cut us a deal on shipping. I just couldn't believe that we got a couch we liked for so little! I plan on going there again to look for a new bed.

I have always wanted a fire pit on my patio. I decided to get one built-in rather than one of the metal external ones. We already had a pretty nice patio so I thought it would be a simple task. We hired Auburn because they originally quoted us a much lower price of $450. However, upon examining the site they deemed it to be a $600 job. After consulting with other businesses in the area we still decided this was a fair price and went with them, but I wish they hadn't led us on like that in the beginning.

We decided to go with Schumer to install our Kohler kitchen sink even though they were a little farther away than other plumbers. They gave us ten percent off the installation and the sink turned out absolutely beautiful. No problems whatsoever...a very professional company.
