This store is a great place to run to if you're working on a project and realize you're missing something. It's not huge, so don't expect the selection of a chain like Home Depot, but it tends to have a decent selection for reasonable prices. Very friendly employees also in my experience.

I decided to redo my living room and change the couches and general look. Sandy, one of the decorators at Ethan Allen, was very helpful with choosing pieces that were complementary and fit the look I was going for. I ended up purchasing two matching couches and a rug. The rug actually had a pull in it when I received it, and so they happily gave me a new one; in the end I also ended up purchasing the damaged rug at a discount.

The decorator was helpful for me with suggestions, but I think you need an idea of what you want--they are not the type of decorators who will come up with ideas without initial feedback.
