We used Two Men & a Truck to move last time, and they were great. They showed up on time, got the truck loaded with no problem, and made our move much easier. They were very careful with our antique furniture, and nothing was damaged at all; the only minor glitch was they could not guarantee a marble dresser top wouldn't break, so we chose to transport it ourselves. They took all the furniture to the right rooms of the new house, and helped us set it up. All in all, we could not have asked for a better experience.

Rumpke does excellent work. Our garbage man is a super guy; he's always on time for pickup, and leaves our can(s) neatly on the right of way - laying down if rain is expected so they don't fill with water. We've had garbage pickup in other cities over the years, but Rumpke is much more reliable.

When the main drain line from our house to the street became clogged, we didn't know any better and called Roto Rooter. They were able to fix the problem (tree roots), but it was only temporary and recurred the following year. We were billed $120 for a service that we found out the city sewer department would do for free, as the main drain line is the city's responsibility. Very disappointing that they either didn't know this, or didn't suggest we call the city in the first place.

We called Overhead Door Company when the spring on our garage door broke. We described the problem over the phone, and they sent someone out within two days. The workman was very polite and friendly, and easily replaced the part; best of all, he said he would only charge for the standard service call and the actual cost of the part, and not the labor. I would definately use them again.

We love Paul Sawyier's artwork, and this is the place to go for collectors. The Gallery is just off I-64, on U.S. 60 south of Frankfort; they have their price lists and inventory available online. We found them to be very friendly and helpful when we went to pick out several prints to give as gifts.

We ordered a specialty rhododendron last year; the friendly staff helped us with our decision, and we have been delighted with it ever since. They have a very wide variety of plants: annuals, perennials, herbs, tropical, shrubs, trees, and garden decor. Our plant arrived healthy, and the blooms this year are even more spectacular than last year.

The people who work at Feather Your Nest are very friendly and helpful. It is much larger inside than it looks from outside, and I was lucky enough to find two collector's art prints priced at $15 each, which is about 1/3 of what they are worth. They rent booths to seller, and are very reasonably priced.

Dwyer has inspected two house foundations for us, and both times, has provided honest evaluations. They are a very busy company, so it was a little difficult to schedule, but compared to the other companies that never showed up or called us back, they stood out.

We used Reliable Residential to replace our gutters, and some rotting soffit & facia. We were very pleased with the gutters and the contractors who installed them. The facia & soffit work was disappointing- we were billed for wood that was not replaced, and some of the soffit was not even fully installed. We had to call the company multiple times to get someone to come finish it, and the gentleman who showed up (presumably the owner or head contractor) was very rude to us on the phone...he was upset that he had to spend his time/money to come fix what his employees didn't do. Overall, it was a mixed experience.

While our home was under a home warranty, we developed a leak in the hot water line in the concrete slab under the kitchen floor. The home warranty service required us to use a leak detection service, so we called American Leak Detection. They told us someone would be out within a few days and would bring their detection equipment. They did not show up, and days turned into weeks. When we finally were able to get someone to come to our house, we were told their sophisticated detection equipment was being used on another job. The man proceeded to tell us the leak was probably under the kitchen cabinet, which they would have to rip out, and we would have to pay to replace it. I was very upset, because I could tell just by standing on the kitchen floor that there was a warm spot about a foot away from the base of the cabinet. American Leak Detection was just guessing. After pointing this out, he proceeded to jackhammer the floor - there was concrete dust all over my kitchen and dining room! They never offered or suggested that we cover the rooms with plastic, or made any effort to contain the dust. Sure enough, the leak was NOT under the cabinet. I felt American Leak Detection did a poor job and were much less than professional.

We chose M&M Concrete to replace our driveway and sidewalk. The contract said "gravel as needed"; being on a sloped lot with lots of water drainage and clay soil, gravel should have been laid before pouring the concrete, but it was not. Consequently, the apron of the driveway and several panels cracked within a month. M&M replaced the apron, but refused any action on the other panels. They tore up the entire front yard with the machinery used to remove the old driveway - watching, it was obvious that they could have just gone up the driveway instead of going back and forth across the grass. We had to ask them to rake, seed, and put straw down. Overall, they had a chance to do a good job, but cutting corners on the gravel ruined it.

When we replaced our heating & air, Monthie Mechanical not only came in with the most reasonable bid, but provided the most logical solution when it came to fixing a return air flow problem. They were friendly, prompt, professional, and we've never had a single problem in with the heat/air in the years since. When we were getting estimates, they could answer our technical questions, and provided a detailed written contract. They even vacuumed up after themselves before leaving. Excellent service, excellent price.
