We had a mold problem in our attic and looked into local companies who could provide a mold remediation service. We looked into a big chain (Servpro), but we always got the feeling that since we weren't a big corporate account, that we were barely worth their time. A family member recommended Case Handyman Services since they have been trained and certified to be mold remediators. Although the service itself cost an arm and a leg, we felt that we did receive professional and personalized service. They used some of the most common techniques in getting rid of mold off of wood (dry-ice blasting). They also handled the disposing of the old attic insulation and installation of the new batts. They even fixed an vent that is connected to our upstairs bathroom because they could tell that it was not hooked up correctly. They performed this service free of charge (and I never asked them to do it). They definitely go the extra mile. Now that the project is over, we truly feel that the mold is gone (and the tests that were taken afterwards hammer home that feeling).

We had Jim Trombly Plumbing and Heating install a sump pump in our basement since it is an older basement (that sometimes takes on a bit of water). The guy who came showed up with a kid who looked no more then 16 (the guy called him an apprentace). The installer then proceeds to install piping that wasn't hard pipe (PVC)! He used cheap flexible house that will never stand the test of time. He then didn't even fasten it to the wood floor beams above. Part of the pipe just rested on the concrete floor. Needless-to-say that it wasn't long until a hold formed in the pipe. He also installed the sump pump on small rocks that were from the ground that was dug (not on a raised platform that would still allow it to stand in the water). The result was premature failure of the pump due to the small rocks clogging it up. After a few complaints, they sent someone else out and the guy was floored that the original installer used flexible pipe. At that point, it was too late to try and swap it out with PVC. They should have known better instead of trying to cut corners. There are many other plumbers in the area. You don't have to put up with service like this. I would try elsewhere first.

We contracted Rainmaker Irrigation (it also goes by the name of Russel Irrigation) to design and install our new irrigation system. It didn't take long for them to send someone out to give us a free quote. After listening to our needs, he came up with a price that was a little more then other companies that we received quotes from. However, what's great about them is that they have a plumber who is part of the company. He can install a deduct meter (if your town offers one - it's a separate water meter so you won't be charged sewer for the water you use on the outside of the house) and can make sure that you have proper water pressure. A lot of the other places that I received quotes from did not have a plumber on staff, which means I would have had to hire one separately and coordinate everyone so that the job would be seemless. Overall, I am happy with the quality of the products used. The wireless rain sensor definitely comes in handy. The only thing that bugged me a bit was towards the end of the job, I felt like I was merely a number and that the owner was only interested in my money. Also he didn't write up a contract which I thought was odd.

I recently contracted Wilkins Mechanical to install a new Hot Water heater. I've had experience with them in the past as they service my forced hot air furance and AC unit. The rep they sent to install the unit (Dennis) was very friendly and knowledgeable. He never seemed flustered even after I asked him a million questions about the installation as well as concerns that might arise in the future. He even went the extra mile and installed a switch onto an outlet (that's connected to the furnace) so I can turn on or off a UV light that's contained in my furnace. I didn't ask him to do it. He just saw it and thought it might be useful. You just can't buy that kind of service nowadays. When he left I felt confident that it was installed correctly and everything would work the way it is supposed to.

This is not the first time that we have contracted Hanover Hill for some renovations to our home. Previously, they have installed vinyl siding, our basement windows and our new front door. Our most recent experience with them was for the installation of our gutters. The thing that sets Hanover Hill apart with other contractors in our area is the fact that they truly stand by their work. They are always to come back and address any concerns I might have...even if it's months after the project was initially completed. Not long ago, I noticed that the stainless steel screws (holding parts of gutters together) began to rust (which they aren't supposed to do). I called Hanover Hill up, and they came out promptly and replaced them all. It was hassle free. I know that when I contract them to do a job, they will do it right.
