My new husband (at the time) and I were looking for a cheap bed frame to get us through our first couple of years of marriage. Being newlyweds, the idea of spending hundreds of dollars on a bed frame we wanted to keep for years and years was just not feasible. After becoming frustrated with the prices at several larger stores, we happened upon this store via the Yellow Pages we had in the car. We were already in Newport News (shopping chain stores), so we decided to give this store a chance. They only had a few bed frames to choose from, but we found one within our price range ($180 including price, tax, and tip for them to put the heavy box in the back of our truck), a queen size, metal bed frame with canopy. The funny thing is that it was the exact same one I had in high school at my parents' house! My parents had paid about $400 for that one, and this one was less than half of that. While in the store, we also noticed a set of 3 lamps in a box (the exact product that Bed, Bath & Beyond sells) for $20 cheaper, so we bought those also. We were very happy (and relieved)!

Don't let the name deceive you. Cole's carries everything from washers and dryers to china and crystal. Being from this town, we registered for many of our housewares there when we were getting married. Cole's helped us keep a thoroughly detailed record of what gifts we'd received and from whom, which really took the headache out of writing thank yous (unlike other larger retailers like Macy's or Dillard's). There were a couple of companies that carried things that we wanted to put on our registry, so Cole's ordered them especially for us! Now I go shopping during the holidays for gifts here!

This review applies to a Home Depot in Dallas before we moved to California last year. After seeing a friend go through the torture of having a professional completly mess up the painting of their living room/study, I decided to paint my kitchen by myself. I was a little apprehensive about going into Home Depot - I find the store a bit overwhelming and hard to navigate. The paint department, however, was fantastic to work with. The guy I worked with, a tall, older guy with glasses names John, really knew his stuff! He asked all sorts of questions about the room: size, layout, amount of sun, activities in there, if we had children, etc. Then he actually recommended a line of paint that wasn't the most expensive! I couldn't decide between two shades of blue, so he gave me two little sample cups of paint at no charge to take home and try. I will be back!

When my husband and I got married, his gift to me was a wooden antique jewelry box from Japan. Although he chose well and I instantly loved it, it was in desperate need of repair before it could be used. I did some searching, and ultimately decided to work with this company long distance. I first took several pictures of the box and sent it to them for a restoration price quote, and when I thought their number was fair, mailed them the jewelry box. The service took about 2 weeks, mainly because I'd made it clear that I was in no hurry, quality over quantity, and that we'd be out of town for the next 10 days anyway. The box came back in great shape - they even cleaned it for us in addition to the repairs.

I am a little confused as to why this is listed under fabric. I go here to find interesting pieces to add to my wardrobe, though I rarely see drapes or loose bolts of fabric here. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and you can even get on their sales list to hear about upcoming events.

We live on the Peninsula, but decided to bear the drive to this place based on how a couple we know raved about them. We were not disappointed. The selection was wonderful, and we felt that we paid a fair price for what we ending up choosing. The staff was helpful, and did not try to push us into getting delivery when we said we preferred to take our new pieces home in a rented truck.
