We hired Green Side Up to complete the wooden fencing in our backyard. Jay came over to discuss the project scope and other projects on our wishlist; he's a great sounding board and very easy to work with. Thanks to all the rainy weather it took longer than expected to get the work done, but Tarah in Customer Care checked in with us regularly to update us on their schedule. When our turn came Zach completed the job quickly and efficiently - just a couple of days - and fully cleaned up after himself. Jay followed up a few days later, and quickly resolved a small issue we had due to warping wood. Overall the workmanship was excellent, and we're very satisfied with Green Side Up!

We hired Avenue to spray Walltite ECO foam on two walls of our semi-detached house. We had not yet framed up the exterior walls, and Andy said that he and some of us crew would do the framing themselves, since they knew how best to do it in a way that would work well with the spray foam. The price for both framing and insulation was quite reasonable, and all of the work was done in a few days about a week after we first called. I had a few calls back and forth with Andy and Lara to arrange everything, but they are both very easygoing and responsible. I would give 10/10 for the insulation, and 7/10 for the framing. The insulation installation was great - the guy who did it was thorough and courteous. The only problem is that when it came time to put up drywall, our contractor discovered that the framing was a combination of two techniques, and resulted in a barely perceptible inward slope at the bottom of each wall. Now that everything is complete it's not visible to the naked eye, but it did make installing trim more difficult. As a result, I would highly recommend Avenue for doing insulation, but be hesitant if they offer to do something else.

Hi Jonathan! Thanks for a great review. And for expressing what sounds like an understandable framing concern, which as it happens, we only heard about through this review. As we do aim to respond to all jobsite concerns --- as they arise --- obviously not all situations/errors allow for response/correction in the moment. Especially when time is running and the job is done! Hence we can appreciate the delay in letting us know. Heck it's taken us this long to get back to you too. Since generally it does take us a while to respond to our reviews (busy Contractors can likely relate) Yet we are enormously grateful for these reviews no less. Your shared experience helps us to grow and be at our best. So thanks again for taking the time to dialogue! Andy will be calling you.

We hired Tom to help finish our basement after seeing his sign in the neighbourhood, and after he completed a plaster repair job which was done well. He built us a new custom staircase down to the basement, framed several interior walls with door frames, and drywalled, taped and mudded the walls and ceiling. He also installed a new light at the top of the stairs, and a new main water shut-off too. We also had new electrical and pot lights going in at the same time, which we had no trouble coordinating with his work. He spent about two hours with us to to define our requirements and come up with an estimate, and the price was reasonable compared to other contractors we found on Homestars. He works on a "first come, first serve" basis so it was several weeks between paying the small deposit and starting the job because of delays on other jobs and an illness that prevented him from working, but once he started everything went very quickly. The only caveat I would add is that if you want something specific done, it should be spelled out in the contract - don't assume that it's included (like adding leveling sloping ceiling joists with shims before drywalling). However, on the whole we are very happy with his work and would hire him again.
