We had a bunch of tall pine trees in the front acre of our property that we needed removed. A regular tree service would have charged around $8000 to take them down, so we called Gentle Giant. Dave came out and surveyed the property. He was very nice and gave us advice on what to do with each area of trees as if he owned the land. He did not push us to clear every tree and gave us honest and helpful advice. Gentle Giant takes the trees and sells them to lumber and pulp mills, so everyone ends up happy--they make money, and we don't pay a fortune to have trees removed. Update: The job is now completed and we are speechless--the work done was SUPERB. Mark, the logger, was SUPER nice, answered all of our kids questions about the skidder (which was a lot of fun to watch) and did a thorough and conscientious job. Watching Mark with a chainsaw was truly like watching an artist. I had no idea there was so much involved in felling trees. Mark took the time to "know" each tree, making adjustments as he went, constantly rechecking, to make sure the tree fell the way he wanted it to. In one area, the trees were surrounded by a old rock wall and some saplings. We were sure the rock wall and saplings would be crushed, which we accepted was necessary to get the larger trees down. The rock wall did NOT come down and the saplings are still standing! Mark is THAT good! We had many situations like that around the property and he even put all the debris into one neat pile (we had opted to deal with ourselves, to save money, when we hired them). Conscientious, hardworking and amazing guys--we absolutely recommend them!

We used Greg Lemay for a house we were buying and based on the results of the inspection, we pulled out of the deal. We used Greg again for the next house we were buying. He is knowledgeable and thorough in his inspections and takes the time to educate the buyer. He doesn't "show off" like we've seen some inspectors do--he is there to get the job done. However, when an issue arose with the seller (based on the inspection results) during negotiations, Greg did not back up his inspection. When the seller's realtor contacted him to get his take on the issue, he confirmed the seller's position, which was incorrect. My husband and I remember the defect in question and Greg did not make a note of it on the inspection report, but think about it--if you were him, would you please the home buyer who is probably not going to use you again or would you go with the real estate agent who regularly throws you work? This man doesn't stand by his work and we question his integrity. Be warned.

We bought a house and wanted the chimney and wood stove inspected and cleaned before we used it. A.J. was personable, knowledgeable and genuinely concerned for his clients' safety. He is also a firefighter for his full-time job, so having a fireman's opinion was a plus. A.J. took the time to educate us about chimneys, burning wood safely, and proper chimney maintenance. Most importantly, his super cool vacuum system and method he uses to "sweep" the chimney meant that the house stayed clean. We'll definitely use him again.

We had a sudden infestation of ants and I called Paul in a panic. He was understanding, friendly and knowledgeable. He told me not to panic and gave me great information on how to take care of the ants quickly and without spraying harmful chemicals around my children. When Paul arrived, he did a thorough inspection of the property and took the time to educate me about ants. We also talked about how to deal with mice in the basement during winter and he showed me things that I could do to prevent them from getting in. The price he charged was the price he quoted on the phone. Paul was friendly and honest, I would recommend him to anyone!

We had a water line that needed to be installed for a filtration system as well as some other pipe replacements. Dennis was able to come that afternoon and he worked quickly and was thorough in his repairs. He ended up needing more parts and he gave us the option to have my husband or I go for them to save time (and money!). We really appreciated that and we will definitely call him again!

We moved to Lunenburg and needed to find a heating oil company. I called around and got various price quotes. Bill, the owner, consistently has some of the lowest prices on heating oil in the entire area and the service is outstanding. He came out and inspected the oil tank (for his safety and ours) and took the time to educate us about insulating our home for better energy efficiency. Bill is a super nice guy, a pleasure to do business with, and we look forward to his visits--I never thought we'd say that about an oil company! Bill delivers prompt service, even does emergencies if needed, but he keeps great records and fills us up so that we never run out. He also offers a 10-day quick pay discount.
