Miro and his associate replaced all of my eavestroughs and downspouts a few months ago and did a fantastic job. Miro always gets back to me quickly and is happy to make arrangements over text (which I prefer - but of course you can call or email as well). They worked quickly and the results look great, everything seems to be draining properly. No issues. He also took the time to walk me through design options in terms of colours and dropped off a palette chip book for me in advance. The right colour choice makes all the difference to my advice to others would be to decide if you want your gutters to recede visually (ie you don’t want them to even be noticed) or if you want to do what I did (which is not the most popular choice but I’m glad I went for it), and choose a colour that will highlight them and make them stand out. People usually make their window trim or their doors the “jewelry” that pops visually when looking at your house as a whole but gutters can surprisingly be great design accents. I can’t remember the colour name I used but it wasn’t something “iron” and it’s like a soft black with hints of brown. Against my light, sandy coloured brick home, it added the pop my house needed since it’ll be years before I can replace all my windows (perhaps painting the trim in-line with the gutters will be a good interim solution). I used to flip houses so I’ve worked with many contractors over the years but I only write reviews for the people I think are exceptional - Miro is one of those people. He’s nice, honest and hard-working and his prices are very fair. You can also book him within a reasonable amount of time which has been a problem during the pandemic with so many people using this time to renovate their homes. I don’t hesitate to recommend him and trust the advice he gives you. He easily could’ve up-sold me on other things but recommended a basic eaves and downspout replacement for my home (mine were in pretty rough shape). He also VERY kindly installed my new house numbers while he was here. 10/10 would recommend!

Ray and his team are fantastic to work with - great tapers (drywall) and painters but also super nice people. Ray took on my project last minute as the painter I had booked had to cancel on short notice (for understandable reasons). Normally, that wouldn't have been a problem but I'm listing my house for sale and needed the work completed stat. I got True Vision's details through my local Sherwin Williams and took a chance on a company I haven't worked with before. Job was a full house interior (approx 3,000 sqft): walls, ceilings, doors, baseboards & all trim work. The full shebang. I'm than satisfied with the results and will be using them moving forward. I will also be recommending them to clients (I am part-owner of a Real Estate brokerage). I don't recommend contractors to clients unless I'm completely confident in their abilities and service. There are a lot of good painters out there but the difference for me between good and great is in attitude and service-level. Ray and his crew knew I was going through some health issues and went out of their way to help with other little things around the house and make sure the process was as painless as possible for me. Thanks True Vision!

I hired Greg and his sons to paint my existing dark wood cabinetry white, the island a mid tone grey. In addition I hired a separate company to extend the cabinets to ceiling height (creation of uppers) with new crown. Greg and his team not only did a phenomenal job on spraying the cabinets (mine were not an easy task - real wood which sucks up the paint which meant several additional coats than originally anticipated), he also worked seamlessly with my cabinet maker to sort out all the details between them (who would do what, when) taking the pressure off of me. So thrilled with the results - I have a new vent hood, faucet and window treatment to come but already it looks like a whole new kitchen. If your cupboards are in decent shape, don't rebuild, just rehab w/ paint - and Greg's the guy to do it.

Thank you Tracy, for including my sons, who have been an invaluable help in our family business. I'm proud of both of them too, as they are among the most conscientious young people I've worked with. They also enjoyed the challenge of your kitchen. And thank you also for introducing us to Tony at Watchtower Interiors. In the many years I've worked with many trades, he is one of the few I'd rate as #1 as a precision cabinet maker.
We will work together again. Finally, you were a delight to work with, professional and kind, even though you weren't feeling well. All in all, a memorable job for us.
Good luck in your new venture. cheers Greg

I've purchased from The Tile Store a few times in years past and always loved them for their selection. Now I love them for the stellar service as well. I own a real estate brokerage and fix up a lot of homes but I don't have a corporate account and didn't tell them what industry i work in so I was just like any retail customer when I went this week to find one piece of pencil rail to fix a broken piece my backsplash trim. The piece I needed was discontinued but they worked with me to find a suitable alternative which they had to order in. The bad part for me is that, not having a car, their location is hard for me to get to (u had a family member with me the day I was in). It would be silly to pay for a full delivery for $20 pieces of trim so what do they offer? To drop it off for free to my home on their own time. In fact, several of the employees overheard and offered to do it after work just to be nice. I had the pieces in hand within 48 hours. It's so rare to find a company who's employees are so passionate about what they do and genuinely care for their customers - the $20 orders just as much as the $2000 orders. The Tile Store was already a fav of mine but now they will be my only go-to when renovating houses.

I have been using Garth for contractor and handyman services for about 6 years now. I love a project and seem to fix up and sell every few years (some people have a travel bug, I have a restoration & renovation bug!). If you're a home owner you'll know that one of the most important service providers you need is a good, reliable and honest handyman who charges a reasonable fee. Before Garth, I would call a dozen handyman only to get "I'm booking three months out" or "I don't work in your area" (even when it's only a 15 min drive) - and those were the handyman who even bothered to answer their phones or call back. I think it's a bit of a dying trade and with the renovation craze in Toronto in recent years, demand is through the roof. A good handyman doesn't need to advertise anymore and can afford to be choosey about the clients and projects they take on. I'm thrilled to have a handyman like Garth now who will squeeze me in for small jobs in between his larger contracting projects. Garth will do a good job and is very clean and courteous but what I like most about him is that he is totally honest and trustworthy. He's there when he says he will be (on the rare occasion he can't be, he always calls first thing - he'll never leave you hanging). I trust him implicitly with the keys to my house and if anything goes wrong on a job, he stands by his work and will fix the problem stat to ensure you are satisfied. Garth is someone all homeowners should have in their contacts. FYI Garth has done a variety of projects for me over the years, usually about $1k-$2k at a time: kitchen backsplashes, regrading walkways for water drainage, laundry room shelving, installation of items i can't do myself in brick or tile, caulking, hanging doors, etc.

I've renovated 1/2 dozen homes over the last decade and have yet to find a painter I would stick with. One was great but went out of business, another was also great but terribly slow and the rest charged a small fortune for a crapup paint job and terrible attitude. Needless to say, I'm thrilled to have found Scott. He's quick and reliable but even more important to me is that he's honest - he actually charged me less than originally quoted as the job was not as much work as originally anticipated - and he's a pleasure to have around. I didn't hesitate giving him a key to my house. I'm hiring Scott again in the new year to paint my part of the house and I will be recommending him to my friends and colleagues in the real estate business. For this job, Scott painted the walls and ceilings of a 500sqft basement apartment (no trim work or interior doors) as well as 3x exterior doors inside and out. My only suggestion is to consider upgrading to BM or SW paints. Scott uses Behr unless you request otherwise. I know a lot of people (incl painters) love Behr but I really saw a quality difference between it and my usual BM Aura. As it was a tenanted apt, the lower cost paint is just fine but for my part of the house I'll be spending the extra for top quality paint that doesn't mark or scratch off so easily.

Tracy, thanks for the wonderful review and for taking the time to write it! It was terrific working with you and I especially enjoyed the ice cream and chocolate bars you brought me :)
Thanks also for the comment re choice of paint... I've had no trouble with Behr but am always up for client choice... I just try to keep things affordable for everyone unless an upgrade to top line or specific brand is requested. Completely appreciate the input though, truly.
Best to you, and look forward to future endeavors at your beautiful home! Thanks again Tracy.

I've used them twice now at different homes and they're fantastic. I know some homeowners never get their ductwork cleaned but this should be on everyone's maintenance list. And if you're an allergy sufferer like me, a duct cleaning 5 years or so isn't a "nice to do", it's a must. The cost is really peanuts when you see the dust and debris that comes out of your ductwork! They'll show you before and after photos. Paul and his team are not only great guys, they care about more than profit with their charitable support programs so you can feel good about helping others by hiring the Duct Cleaning Specialists.

I've used Zoltech for new engineered hardwood flooring throughout two houses now (both with the same flooring because I loved it so much: Kentwood Kalispell in Brushed Oak, pictured here). The owner Zoltan is a really great guy. He'll come and do the quote for you but isn't onsite for the work - not a problem because his team is superb. They aren't the cheapest by any stretch so one star removed for that but they get the job done right, the first time, and they are quick to respond to calls and resolve issues. I personally would rather pay a little more than some of their competitors to know that I'm getting an A+ job - floors are not something you want to have to re-do because of poor installation or change with trends. Working in the real estate industry, the biggest issue I see with flooring is poor sub-floors. It breaks my heart to see gorgeous, new hardwood with dips and "soft spots" because the contractor hasn't taken the time and care to ensure that the sub-floor levels out any wonky areas and is thick enough for a good feeling underfoot. Zoltan's crew does wonders - even in my last home which was a total gut-job Victorian with the most uneven floors I've ever had. They came out as close to perfect as you can get a century home.

I had one of those nightmare plumbing situations that Express Rooter not only resolved but managed to make as pleasant an experience as these types of things can be. 48 hrs before my house was to go on the market for sale, I had a basement flood. Unexpected of course. Murphy's law. Good news for my buyers is that the issue was identified and properly resolved before listing. Bad news for me is that I needed to get it resolved fast and properly the first time out, and of course wanted a reasonable price. Having had bad experiences with plumbers in the past, I knew that Express Rooter was the right company to call and I wasn't disappointed. They booked me in within a few business days and finished the job very quickly, sending 5 guys. They camera'd the lines for me inclusive in the price to ensure there were no further issues to resolve while we had the ground open inside and outside of my house. And they recommended installing a backwater valve at the same time which meant a City rebate for me, helping to offset the costs, and provide extra protection for the buyers. They took care of the permit arrangements. Digging three deep holes through concrete in a finished house was nerve racking, but the crew were extremely conscientious. I was amazed at how minimal the debris was and how clean they left my basement and front yard, even moving and re planting my plants. You'd never know they were there. This is the company you call when you don't want to mess around - you want the best. And you'll get it.

Mark was amazing. Simply put. Last time I had a new kitchen installed I purchased an install package through my appliance store and was unhappy with the results. This time I decided to find my own contractor and read the great reviews for Baydoun. I'm so happy to have found this company. He installed a fridge with water filter, double drawer dishwasher, wall oven and microwave combo, gas cooktop, vent hood and washer and dryer incl. rigid venting. Mark is efficient, his prices are fair and he explains everything clearly. He is also very pleasant to deal with and really cares about his customers. When I had what I thought was an issue with the washer (which turned out to be a simple matter of another trade having turned the water valve off and not turning it back on), Mark came right away after hours to resolve it and didn't charge for the visit. He will go the extra mile to make sure you're happy and your appliances are installed and functioning properly.

Tony and his team at Watchtower Interiors are nothing short of amazing. I interviewed several companies before deciding on Tony both because of his personality (such a nice, trustworthy and honest guy) and his price (by far the cheapest on an apples to apples comparison across 3 vendors). What can I say? I LOVE my new kitchen. It truly is a dream kitchen. He followed my design wishes but suggested special touches to make it even better. He provided professional drawings and stayed in touch throughout the process so there were no surprises. They managed a tricky install in my old Victorian (not a straight wall to be found!) and he even pointed out an issue that resulted from packing / being in storage too long (the storage duration had been at my request), and without hesitating he re sprayed all of the effected cabinet door fronts at no charge. I could barely notice the flaws and I'm sure that most companies would've just touched up the paint onsite. Or perhaps not even mentioned it at all. But not Tony, he is committed to making sure his clients receive the best. After a 6 month gut job reno with me acting as GC with over 20 different trades (what an experience it has been!), there are only a handful of trades I would use again and recommend to others. Watchtower is at the top of that list.

$18,000.00

I recommend going to Tony's shop and looking at sample cabinet fronts and other materials like the great industrial mesh we used for the uppers. That way he gets a better sense of your style and you can be sure you're getting exactly what you want.

Jim and his crew are nothing short of miracle workers when it comes to historic restoration. I recently purchased an old Victorian semi that had fallen far from its former grandeur. The brick veneer facade was crumbling away, and I thought a complete tear down and rebuild with new brick would be my only option. In an attempt to salvage the historic look, I called Jim and I'm so glad I did. With over 300 bricks to replace, full tuck pointing and new window ledges required, it was no easy task to mix old and new to create a look that appears original to the house. Their patience and artistry restored my house, they were always on time and very pleasant to deal with. They also made sure my neighbours were informed and happy. In addition, Jim made recommendations that ultimately took money out of their pockets and into my window company's, because that would result in a better finished product for me. I wouldn't hesitate to use Reach Restoration again or recommend them to others.

Keep in mind that masonry companies rarely deal with brick cleaning. So if you have paint that needs to be removed from your brickwork before restoration, I recommend Blair from Horizon Restoration who worked in tandem with Jim and did an excellent job.
