In the depths of despair following a messy break up with a general contractor over the holidays, I called up Jim to see if he could help restart a stalled house project. He readily agreed and I discovered previously unknown skills offered by Jim and his crew. He has done masonry work for me in the past but the current house was cedar and cement board clad. Jim and his crew set up a 30 ft scaffolding to correct the previous contractor's work and suggested solutions taking into account the performance of the entire building envelope. He brought in his preferred roofer to do some complicated sheet metal flashing work and in many ways acted like a general contractor. I appreciated his attention to detail and the versatility of his staff. In addition to exterior cladding in tongue and groove cedar and cement board and batten, he rough framed my rear deck, installed fence posts, fixed drywall, waterproofed roof penetrations and poured concrete for my sump pit. Well done guys!

Thank you very much for your project. As an Architect your eye was very discerning and a good test for our framing and renovation
skills. We greatly appreciated the opportunity to work again under your direction.

Ivan and his crew made a huge contribution to the renovation of my 100 year old Annex house. The existing floors were visibly out of level so Ivan sistered all the floor joists and installed a new subfloor. The result was a perfectly level and creak free subfloor. He then framed the walls and ceilings. There were several challenging framing conditions such as at the skylight wells that he effortlessly resolved. His crew works efficiently and listens to instructions which helps alot as I was acting as my own general contractor. Ivan is a very professional, punctual and approachable tradesman. Whenever I pointed out areas that required remediation, he gave no fuss and set about correcting the problem. I was very satisfied with the resulting job and would not hesitate to recommend Ivan and his crew.

I contracted with Reach restoration to enlarge two masonry openings and install new steel lintels in a 100 year old row house. There was excellent communication from site to confirm dimensions as work progressed. Jim and I exchanged over 50 emails over the course of a week. The enlarged openings were finished by meticulously toothing in the bricks at the jambs reusing salvaged bricks. I found out that there is quite an artistry to restoration of old brick walls and Reach’s experience showed in the finished product. For instance, brick courses are rarely level in 100 year old walls and my house was no different. Reach’s masons made micro field adjustments to the installed brick around the new openings to compensate for the existing courses that had sagged in the middle where the new opening was created. If Jim had not pointed this out to me I would of never noticed. The result was a beautifully executed, almost perfectly plumb and level openings ready to receive windows.
