I posted a 10/10 review for a repair Shane did at my mom's house back in 2016. I was up on her roof this weekend inspecting the shingles and of course took a moment to check out the chimney to see how Shane's work was holding up. The pictures speak for themselves - 2016 vs. today. This is no surprise to me, but I had to take a moment to post another quick review. If you want to know what your job will look like years from now, here's your proof. Shane, thanks again.

My mother's chimney (in Mississauga) was in desperate need of repair. Holes had developed and squirrels had moved in. I had used Shane twice before - I have already posted a review from the first job. I knew Shane didn't get out to Mississauga too much, so I started the quote process and sent a note to Shane as well, just in case. I already had a couple of quotes before I connected with Shane, but once he gave me his estimate and said he could do the job, it was a no-brainer. On top of that, he had a better - and ultimately cheaper - solution than what I'd received up to that point. (Others just wanted to take the chimney down altogether and have me replace the hot water tank with a direct-vent). Living at least 40 minutes away, I could not afford any hassle, so when he said he could do the job, it was a huge relief and I immediately signed up. As with both times before, great job done right plus all the other good stuff - on time, courteous, clean. He was a life-saver on this one and remains no.1 in my mason rolodex.

I found Shane through Homestars and he lived up to his reputation. After removing a sidelight and shifting a door over, I had a gap that I wanted filled with bricks matching the rest of the house. I called Shane and he scheduled a site visit within days and showed up when he said he would. As it turns out, the brick dimensions I needed are no longer available (let alone colour). I eventually suggested to Shane that if possible, we could poach some bricks from the interior of the garage. He said it was definately feasible and quickly drew up a quote. Finding the quote to be reasonable, we scheduled the work and again, he showed up when promised. As for the work itself, I can only say that Shane did an amazing job. As others have pointed out, he is a real craftsman who takes pride in his work. The end result speaks for itself and I couldn't be happier. Apart from the workmanship, Shane is also a pleasure to deal with: prompt, courteous, lots of communication, and he cleans up after himself. I would recommend Shane to anyone without hesitation.

Joe answered my call right away, was on-site quickly, and had my fridge up and running in an hour. I found my fridge was overheating last night. After finding him on Homestars, I called Joe this morning and spoke to him directly. He was very courteous and walked me through a diagnosis to make sure he was as prepared as possible when he showed up on site. He said he would call me back when he had figured out his schedule. He called back as promised within 20 minutes and showed up when he said he would - within an hour in my case. He was just as personable in person and got to work right away. Because of his preparation, he had the part he needed when he arrived - a fan motor - and had it installed within an hour. He didn't mind my watching or asking questions. In fact, he offered his own tips on maintenance, too. Paying close attention, I could see the work was done right and the price was very reasonable. I would call Joe again without hesitation and certainly recommend him to anyone else.

I needed a significant amount of new drain work done as part of a basement renovation, and my main drain trap removed (and replaced with straight pipe and a new cleanout). I called Roy after reading the Homestars reviews. When I explained the work, he put me in touch with Victor. When Victor was on site to evaluate the work, in addition to being very personable, he came accross as knowing what he was talking about. The results of the job proved that his personality was genuine and workmanship lived up to the talk. What impressed me most was his fexibility once the job was underway. When the original layout didn't work out once the floor was openned up, he was unphased and just came up with a new plan and executed it. He took the time at each step to make sure everything was laid out properly. All his connections were made properly - joints properly glued and gaskets properly torqued. It was evident he took pride in his work. As you can see from the pictures the job was big and messy. He remained diligent throughout, patched the holes properly, and cleaned up afterwards. I would not hestitate to use Victor again and I would certainly recommend him to anyone.

I did a major replumbing in my basement (copper) over the last 3 days, but had a couple of leaky connections when I turned the water back on. Out of steam and desparate for a hot shower, I knew the right thing to do was call in a professional with the right equipment. I turned to Homestars right away, having had success there before, and found Aviv Plumbing. Earl quickly answered the page and we scheduled a time. He showed up right on schedule, was very courteous, and got the job done in short order. I would call again without hesitation.

While considering ducting solutions for basement reno, furnace died. Called Lou after reading Homestars reviews and he immediately lived up to the positive comments with a prompt and courteous site visit with an honest review of the situation. A new furnace was installed by the end of the next day. I was very impressed with the skills and work ethic of Pat and Marino, making sure everything was done right. The custom adapters to the new furnace were fabricated in their shop from Lou's measurements and fit perfectly. It was an easy decision to have them redo my ducting. It was a huge effort with lots of custom work, but they maintained their diligence throughout the job and I am very happy with the results. I would recommend these guys to anyone without hesitation, no matter what size of project. They know what they are doing and it shows.
