Italian Concrete is a poorly run operation. We had a patio poured at the same time as our neighbours who had a similar experience to us. We were told that excavation, framing, rebar and the pouring of the concrete would happen on a Monday and we would be good to go by Tuesday. Then we were informed that the concrete would not be poured until Tuesday. If that was the extent of our negative experience, that would have been fine, unfortunately, that was just the beginning. We were then told that they would be back Thursday to remove the forms. Without ever contacting us, the never showed up. Our neighbour informed us that he had spoke to Frank (owner of Italian Concrete) and he was having bobcat issues, and he would not make it until Friday. We figured that was unfortunate. Friday rolled around and still no phone call, and still no one to take the framing apart. By Saturday, we had to take apart the framing ourselves because there were many sharp edges and nails sticking out and it was a real hazard for our two kids and two dogs. My wife and I both called and texted Frank several times with our concerns. If it was a text or a voicemail, we never once received a reply. If we spoke to him in person, he would tell us he would look into it, but we would never hear a reply back. Our neighbour told us he had heard Frank would be by with a jackhammer to clean up the rough edges and places where the concrete had spilled out of the incomplete framing job. 5 days later on Monday, someone came by to remove the framing (which we had already taken off) and take away the wood (which we had removed). They walked right into our yard without even notifying us that there were there. Again, we have two young boys and two dogs so that was highly concerning to us. We only know they were in our yard because our neighbour informed us. Apparently the individual who came, only removes framing and doesn’t do the finishing work. Now, 5 more days have passed and we have placed several more phone call and the job is still not finished. Unfortunate, we paid him after the concrete was poured as he had asked, having faith in him to stick to his word and comeback and finish his work. If you do make the mistake of hiring Italian Concrete, don’t mess up twice, only pay him when you are completely satisfied with the job and it is finished. After several phone calls, text messages, scheduled appointments that were cancelled and an endless supply of excuses I gave up and bought a chisel and finished the work myself. I would highly recommend saving yourself the headache and find some one else. It’s not worth it to use Italian Concrete!
