After receiving almost 10 quotes for my roof replacement I decided to hire Bill and his team to do the job. Our house is a 3 story Victorian typical to most of Toronto. The roof is very steep, with multiple peaks and surfaces. In addition to the main roof we also had a porch roof to replaced and a shed that required flat roofing. As an added complication our roof had two layers of asphalt shingles in addition to the original slate roofing underneath. The job took 4 days to complete. A crew of 10 people worked on the for the first two days to ensure that all the stone is properly removed and disposed off. New roof is great. We selected shingles to match the style of the house and eaves to tie in with new fascia. I could not be happier with the quality of the work. The crew was extremely clean. They left our property cleaner than it was after the long winter. The foreman- Steve was very informative. Any questions we had were answered and he paid great attention to details. In addition to the roof we also asked to have a skylight replaced. The new window was installed without a delay and with great care. I would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting to replace their roof. Thank you Canadian Roofing!

I hired Otto's Masonry to reopen and refurbish an old fireplace in our living room. Otto was very prompt in his response to my request and was able to visit my house to estimate to job quickly. The job involved locating the old existing fireplace, tearing out the lath and plaster wall covering it, tearing a part of the floor to pour hearth and closing off the chimney. Otto's crew spent two days working on the fireplace. They were extremely punctual and clean. Their workmanship was excellent, the attention to detail was great. Once the fireplace was opened it came to our attention that the opening and the hearth would have to be moved over by a foot to retain symmetry within the room. The crew was able to do this without a pushing the schedule and increasing the cost. New hearth was poured as well as well as a pad for an ethanol burning insert. Chimney was reinforced and closed off as the ethanol fireplace does not require venting (clean, modern, eco-friendly solution). Overall the crew did a great job with an immaculate finish. Well done and thank you!

Company Response

Dear Barbara,
Thank you for the compliments. Also, thank you for presenting the work our masons did in your photos and in your description. I really like the ethanol burner idea you used. It's clean, looks great and you still retain the naturalness of a real flame. I'm very happy that the project turned out well and that you are pleased with the final product.
Sincerely,
Tony

Ambia recently replaced windows and a front door on my old Victorian home. New windows were designed to fit into existing frames, so all of the original architectural detail could be kept. I chose the heritage variety of frames for the detailing. The job was done over three days and the results are fantastic. The quality of windows and and installation itself are top notch! Our house immediately became warmer and less drafty! I would strongly recommend this company to anyone. Tony is very helpful and courteous and his crew works efficiently and quickly.

I hired Brand Insulation to insulate the walls of my 120 year old home. What makes this company different is that the product they use is not a spray foam. Air krete is a type of foam that is already formed as it is injected into to the wall cavity. Just like spray foam is has a high R value, but it is completely non-toxic. This is something that was crucial to me as I am allergic to a number of things including certain chemicals. I try to avoid products that off-gas like spray foam insulation and use natural products instead. My walls are all plaster and tearing them down was not an option. Instead a series of small holes was drilled to fill the cavities(at the end of the process one of the installers patched up and sanded the injection holes). Some of the work was done from the outside of the house, but the balance was done from the inside. There was no smell, no fumes. I was present during the installation and my allergies did not act up. To insulate the whole house took just a day. It was a bit messy, but really easy to clean up. I know to many drilling holes might not seem like an ideal solution, but when you live in an old drafty house you will do anything to be warm. The cost of a whole job was very reasonable, I was given different much steeper quotes from different contractors. I would recommend this type of insulation to anyone with allergies or children. My heating bills dropped by more than a half, I am not breathing in unnecessary chemicals and my house is now also very quiet. I live by a busy street and it made a world of a difference. Good job overall!

Raphie from Aviv plumbing recently fixed my leaking bathtub. He was extremely punctual and courteous- even wore protective covers on his shoes- which does not happen too often! He fixed the problematic tub quickly and also pointed additional problems with the bathroom and was able to recommend solutions to it. thank you for a great service! I will certainly use Aviv in the future.

Jerry's insulation responded to my quote request quickly and provided me with a good overview of what the job required. The quote was very reasonable. The actual job was done quickly and efficiently, the contractors kept the dirt to a minimum and cleaned up after themselves. Our house has warmed up considerably since even on extremely cold days. Sealing the crawl space helped with the draft problem we had. good job!
