“Tough Customer” in Calgary

Quote involved a Liftmaster Premium 1/2 hp garage door opener with lighting of 200 watts, 2 remotes, keypad, chain sensors and door control. Company has installed at least one opener and at least one door previously in decades past. Garage bulkhead would not accommodate this model. A more expensive model would fit but was 3/4 hp. A basic 1/2 hp Contractor Series model would fit, however, only had one light bulb for maximum wattage of 100 watts. I asked for the price difference, and was told they were the same price, that Calgary Overhead Door simply absorbed the cost of the “Premium” model. I thought it was a rather dubious claim, however, I needed an opener that FIT the garage. The installer was excellent, helpful and informative. I did, however, feel I was subject to a “bait & switch”. So, for all you consumers looking for a basic Liftmaster Contractor Series Opener, please know that you can be upgraded to a Premium Liftmaster at no additional cost.
