My particular fridge is known to have an issue with drainage and freezing, and ultimately, cracks in the interior beyond repair. Peter was thorough in his explanation (I had the same problem a few years under warranty), and did a great job to fix it for now, and also tell me how to delay the problem from getting worse too fast. At least I can get as much life from it as possible. He was neat with his work and respectful of my home. The service cost was very reasonable. ARS is also great with communication, from the first phone call to assess the issue, to confirming the visit, and follow up communication. This is becoming more rare these days.

Alex was a pleasure to deal with. He replied to my initial phone call promptly, worked with me to assess the problem correctly, told me what I needed to buy, and came as soon as I was ready. He was polite, professional, clean with his work, and made sure everything was satisfactory before leaving. He explained the job along the way and made suggestions to avoid future problems. I definitely will recommend him and call him again.

These are 2 rooms in transition, still in progress, as we became empty nesters. We met Valerie at the Toronto Home Show, and she was one of the few exhibitors not sitting and busy with her phone! She was out front, smiling and greeting the people and simply being friendly and welcoming. We did not have to talk for long to know she understood what we were looking for, and we agreed to meet after the show wrapped up. She communicated well about appointments, arrived prepared, and was helpful in making the selection. She had enough samples to choose from, and did not overwhelm us with items that would not be suitable just because she has a large stock. Her installer was also a pleasure to work with. Again they communicated about appointments to measure, and to install. There were a couple of delays on my part and she was patient and understanding. I would definitely recommend her for quality of service and product.

Our backyard pool and deck was built in 1997, and by now was looking very tired and outdated. We back on to a school yard and park as well, so keeping up with encroaching weeds and such was also becoming more and more difficult. There were some ongoing draining issues as well, due to the sloping elevation of our property. Rowan was great to work with from the very start. A quick reply to my initial contact, timely meetings, helpful suggestions without ignoring our needs and wishes. When it was time to review the plans we walked through every step of the project and made sure all details were covered. His crew was excellent. Respectful of our home and property, arrived on time and worked hard, and cleaned up at the end of each work day. And most of all, they did great work. Everything we planned was done, with care and quality. We lifted, cleaned and reset all the stones of the deck, on a newly created foundation; built a pool equipment enclosure, dug drains along each side of the house, camouflaged them beautifully with landscaping details, built new steps to enter the back yard from the side yard, and several other small details along the way. Rowan came by to review all details before we settled our final payment and made sure we were satisfied. It was a pleasure to do business with him and we will use him again as we continue to maintain and upgrade our property.

Rory has recently completed 2 outstanding bathroom renovations for us. One was a complete gut-job, down to the studs and sub floor and into the ceiling. The other was a less involved stall shower rebuild. We originally contacted him for the big job, but at the first meeting we were so impressed we asked him to quote on the other job as well. He is a true tradesman and craftsman from start to finish... great suggestions, detailed quotes, timely communication, very neat on the job and respectful of the house, and a perfectionist. Details that I had taken for granted, he knew to discuss and confirm BEFORE doing any questionable work. After several failed attempts to get quotes from other contractors, and a couple of outrageous estimates for inferior jobs, we were thrilled to discover Rory on HomeStars. We have already discussed future ideas with him and look forward to hiring him again when we are ready to do the work.

Last month we discovered 2 very large wasp nests in a tree in our front yard. We were about to go on vacation in the next day or two, so we had little time to make arrangements for removal. Peter took our call immediately, asked some questions to get the details, and came that evening. He called shortly before arrival to confirm the appointment, explained the process, and took care of both nests very quickly and safely. He was a pleasure to deal with and I would definitely recommend him.

I have kept my initial review from 2012, that follows, but to update, I have to say this kitchen has not really stood the test of time. There is a lazy-susan corner unit that has needed repairs on several occasions. The finish on the cupboards is very hard to clean and leaves long term marks. After the install I have slowly realized that shortcuts were taken in places I would not see at first but are revealed over time. Some of the lifting-style cupboard door lock into a straight position at times and hardware needs to be hammered by hand back in to place. The frosted glass used in cupboard doors is almost impossible to clean without leaving streaks and marks and ruining the finish. The general look is still ok and it functions, and to be fair it is not an expensive kitchen, but it is the heart of my home and sometime I do feel disappointed that I have having these problems. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Having met Vlad at a trade show, we were immediately impressed with his product, and with him. We spent almost 2 years researching kitchen companies, contractors and renovators to work with, and in the end, Vlad and Svea Kitchens was our decision. He and his team (designer, contractor to oversee the trades, installer, connections to other services) worked so well together. Nothing was a problem too big to address. From the beginning they worked with us to create the design and select the finishes that would best suit our living style and use of the space. Every job, large or small, will have unexpected issues that have to be resolved, and every concern was handled very quickly and to our full satisfaction. Kitchens can be a source of horror stories - and we have only good stories to share. After only 15 days from the beginning of demolition, I had a basic working kitchen to use. You can choose a cheaper do-it-yourself approach, or go full out and blow the bank on something outrageous. But for a moderately priced, well done, good looking, functional space, there is no competition. We definitely recommend Svea kitchens.
