Sandros original quote was precise and detailed, and that in itself was reassuring: the final invoice contained no surprises. Due to circumstances beyond his control, Sandro was unable to do the job himself, as he'd planned, but he guaranteed the team he brought in would do an equally fabulous job (pun intended!). He did oversee the work, checking in regularly with us and the team, stopping by to do quality control, and following up on any concerns that arose. I tend to be an anxious perfectionist, and am pleased that they were all patient and understanding. The scope of work entailed gutting the entire bathroom, which included removing a mammoth, impractical bathtub that took up more than half the room, a double vanity, and a marble tile floor, replacing the tub with a level floor shower, with tile floor and glass and tile walls, and the vanity with a pedestal sink. Our goal was to improve functionality, to reduce the potential for accidents and clutter in our choice of minimalist fixtures, and to make it an easy room to clean. Because the room is large now much larger than before! we wanted to add natural wood furniture pieces for storage, and to reduce the clinical bathroom look. The tile installation was a considerable feat, as it involved two walls, a sloped ceiling, and a skylight well and not a straight surface or even angle anywhere! Raphael the tiler is a master at his craft: he managed to straighten walls and angles with mortar and ingenuity, and the result is beautiful. Andrew did much of the finicky work and made sure that the fixtures and accessories were mounted precisely, and that the finishing touches were elegantly coordinated or contrasted, as needed. His precise eye for detail was very welcome, and certainly helped in ensuring that the custom glass enclosure for the shower was cut accurately! Interior designer Jo walked us through our design and helped us choose just the right paint colour to tie everything together, and her expertise made our decision making much easier. Overall, we are extremely happy with the results achieved by Sandros crew under his exacting oversight, and we have a beautiful and functional bathroom to enjoy for years to come. Twas three days before Christmas, and up in the hall, Something was dripping! But I knew who to call. Please hurry! I pleaded with Derek in panic. I fear a flood, like on the Titanic! The bucket was placed neath the drips on some towls, The fuses turned off no electrical fouls! And quick as a wink, who did appear But Derek the Roofer, saying, Hey, never fear! Then up in the attic, amidst dripping and clatter, I soon heard him say, I see whats the matter! It isnt a big deal to fix, you will see! I can do this in no time Im glad you called me! Derek called for some tools, a flashlight, and rags, Thumped, hammered, stuffed wet insulation in bags. He came down the ladder and flashed a big grin, Dont cancel Christmas! Let the holiday begin! Derek is probably the most customer service oriented construction specialist I have encountered in many years! On two occasions, we have called him to do emergency repair work on our sunroom roof, and he showed up within hours and fixed the problems right away — even though the glass roofs in question had been done, not by him, but by another company that didn’t stand behind its work! Because Derek did an exceptional job replacing our cedar roof last year, we knew we could count on him to do a fine job again, and we are grateful for his quick response and thorough repair job. In the rain. By himself. And at a rate that can only be called highly competitive.

We watched Derek and his crew replace a neighbour’s cedar roof and were so impressed with what we saw that we engaged his services after requesting a quote. Because our roof is identical to the neighbour’s, we knew exactly what to expect and Derek delivered. His crew was efficient and did an excellent job on both the torch on and the cedar, and Derek was frequently on site to ensure the work met his exacting standards. The materials used were premium grade cedar shakes (not shingles), so we are confident that our roof will withstand the rains for many years to come! Derek is a stickler for details, and did most of the finer touches, like diverters and chimney stack assembly, himself, always checking to see if we were satisfied with the results. The work site was left clean and tidy by the roofers, and Derek completed the final cleanup himself.
