On Sunday November 15, during the worst wind storm I ever experienced, some shingles flew off our roof. Anxious to repair the damage and assess the state of the roof, I phoned Simpson’s next day. Inundated with similar calls, they explained their repair policy and then booked me in. Expecting a long delay, I was surprised when two helpful men called two days later, ready to start work. Sitting upstairs in my office hearing footsteps on the roof was disquieting—how much damage were they finding? When I went to check, one of the men was climbing down a ladder carrying some shingles. I was thinking of installing attic insulation myself.
